178cm TO BIG?????

im gonna have to say yes. everyones going with bigger skis now and they arent able to flex them correctly which contributes to general lack of turning ability that i see alot. i assume you arent gettign the invaders for a big mt ski because that would be foolish and you dont weigh too much so go with something shorter. closer to a high 160. if you think you can eat your way into the skis and gain a bit of weight, think again youd need to gain at least 20 pounds and even then a 178 would be a very hefty ski for you.

i hear the 178 is good for 5' 9" and up. so ur almost at that cutoff. it prolly won't hurt you. but it won't help you either

The best to find the best length of an all-around ski for you is to stand it up next to you. If the tip is somewhere between your mouth and the top of your head, it's perfect. Any shorter and you'll regret it when you want to go fast/big. Having skis that are too long are much less of a problem than having skis that are too short. Too short compromises your ability, too long is usually just an inconvenience.

fucking right they are....im 6'1 and i ride 176 and they are perfect. Im 165 lbs right now. I love seeing these little skinny guys with fucking huge skis....most hilarious thing on the hill. Can't turn, or carve worth a fuck. No offence, go with the 171....unless you want to ride right into a tree.

that seems to be the trend, little kids who only ride and park and figure they need some "big steezy skis"

it always looks like they are riding their dad's skis or something.

go with the 171's, cause 178 would fuck you up completely because if you ever do decide to go out of the park, you wont be able to turn for shit

Im 6'2" and ride 171's i personally like the ski height to be right at about my mouth or nose, plus with the smaller skis i feel like i have more control

i'd def go with a shorter model. You'll spin sooo slow, and itll be really akward. Def go with the ski at about height of your eyebrows

im 5'8"/5'9"ish 160ish pounds and i ski a 178 invader last year and will be this year. it def aint too much ski. its just right. shorter ski will help u spin faster, but not worth it. and i ski trails fine

i did NOT know that...can you explain why that is?

and i think 178 invaders will be perfect for you...isnt 178 right around your height? and the invaders dont seem like a ski that takes too much muscle to control

im 6'0" and my 176s are up to the middle of my forehead, so 178s would be over the head of a 5'8" kid. Plus this guys pretty skinny so i would for sure say the size down from 178. If youre planning on keeping them a few years and your still growing you might want 178, but if your just going to get another new pair next year, go with the size down for sure.

i am the same size as u and have the 178's and they really arent that much over my head.

i am really pumped to ride em'

im gonna have to say yes. it will be easier to learn stuff on shorter skis and just skiin around will be plain better. im 6'2" and i weigh 190 and i have 182 motherships.

dude I don't know what you are talking about, long skis are amazing because they are good for landing, think about the advantages of skis over snowblades. Also, it depends on what kind of turning you want to do, large arc gs turns, which I view to be more fun, or short radius, slalom turns. Just because people don't turn once ever 6 inches doesn't mean they don't know how to ski. If you are a good skier you'll enjoy longer skis because they are more stable at high speeds. I love the dudes who show up to the park over 5'6" and have junior twins because they think short skis will help you spin faster. the difference in swing weights doesn't add up a whole lot with skis being mounted more foreward. The invaders are symmetrical and made to be center mounted. The benifits of a long ski on a landing far outweigh any spinning potential with shorter skis. Short skis are easier to turn and have amazing control at snowplow speed...
