16 year old dies in ontario

I witnessed it myself. I was questioned by the police last night to make sure fowl play was not involved.

The guy was a snowboarder, hit a jump outside of his ability level, went belly up and landed on his neck which resulted in him breaking it. I waited with him until ski patrol came and at that time he was still unconscious. Died this morning from head injuries. The resort had nothing to do with it, a lot of people seem to be blaming Ski-Lakeridge for the incident but it was purely the riders fault. The jump was perfectly fine, the snow was soft, it was just a fluke accident.

My condolences go out to his family, I'm sure they are devastated by this incident.

Ive seen snowboarders fall like that a few times, and it always gives my that..."oh fuck, oh no!" feeling. Thats terrible to hear.

Last year at my hill a girl dies skiing the bunny slope. She was apparently a decent skier but went head first into one of the poles that holds the chairlifts up. She broke her jaw and a piece of the bone pierced her jugular. She bled out in front of the lodge and under the lift with a bunch a kids on it. It was bad. Me and my friend saw 2 ambulances flying up the road. And we knew it wasn't good. Especially when they left without lights.

really sad. Luckily these incidents are very few and far between especially considering the risks involved in the sport.

Wow! That's mind blowing. Terrible. My condolences go out to his family.

If you don't mind me asking how big of a jump was this? I'm sorry you had to witness that. Must have been really bad

Vibes to the family. When I was in 7th grade a teacher died of a heart attack during the school ski trip. Sometimes shit is just whack.

thats to be expected from something like this, kind of sad tbh.

seriously sad shit tho, vibes to the family. stay safe out there guys

Takes me back to when I saw a snowboarder paralyse himself on the 100 footer at TC. Pro snowboarder, came up short. So sad

This jump

A fucking 30 footer? Damn that's aweful. Makes you think sometimes. Sounds like he came up short? Hearing shit like this makes me very upset. It's one thing to hEar about deaths in the bc, or doing Gnarly shit. But to hear this came on a measly 30 footer is sadening. I know you can die from slipping in your bathroom. It just blows my mind and scares me to hear shit like this

apparently it was hard to get enough speed for it and you had to push alot with skis, and i guess you dont have that option on a snowboard

I wasn't there the day the kid fell but the day before that there was mad speed for it.it was really lippy with a weird knuckle though so I'm not surprised someone got hurt on it. also had a super narrow landing.

shitty picture but this is what it looked like

Shut up man, a skier died doing real skiing and you just make this stupid joke over a spelling mistake? You're not a proper skier man, you just sit at home on Newschoolers and pretending you do. Don't even make jokes on a thread about some poor guy who died.

"It's not foolproof," she said. - I lol'd.

But seriously this sucks. The same thing happened to one of my beother's bed friends when he was 16, at Beaver Valley I think

Man, you're incredibly cool. I don't get it, I feel this incredible vibe from you, on how nice you are, really.I bet you fucking made fun of Will Schooler who died doing urban last year and you probably can't even strap your boots up, let alone show compassion for skiers/snowboarders who die doing what they love. You'd have a different opinion if you knew someone who died doing it, so shut your internet fuelled mouth and shut the fuck up

Oh God play me the worlds smallest violin. Listen, neither one of us made fun of this situation. I do know someone who died skiing and someone who was put in a wheelchair as well, okay? Its terrible what happened I made a joke that had nothing to even do with the death.

GUYS, quit fucking bitching men, this thread is about someone dead doing what he loved. if you guys are argueing on something go elsewhere

vibes to the family, stay safe ns

i really hate this now because one kid out of god knows how many people in the park, happened to die and now that town and one pissy rich soccer mom is gonna start some no-park movement.

An old girlfriend of mine (who is a very capable snowboarder) broke her back on a 5ft jump in the park once. Nothing serious (she even went into a rail jam a week later with the still broken back and won), but it just shows that the size of a jump isn't relevant to the seriousness of injury.

I've seen a beginner snowboarder get a compound fracture of her femur bone on the bunny hill.

He no doubt accidents do happen all the time. Reminds me of she I read an article in the newspaper a few years ago. A teenager girl was wage skiing and wiped out. She fell backwards let go of the rope and does a few hours late from brain damage

LOL I posted that on my phone quickly. I guess the auto correct changed some words around.

What I men't to say was...yes, accidents do and can happen all the time. Total freak accidents that you would think are impossible but some how, someone ends up passing away.

I remember a few years ago, I read a story about a teenage girl who was water skiing, lost her balance and fell backwards letting go of the rope. She ended up passing away due to a neck injury.
