There's a lightened version of the 916 coming as well, usual 916 DIN range if I'm not mistaken/remember correctly.
Seriously though, if you run your bindings at less than 12, the STH would be fucking sick. It has the same heel as a 916 (lightened up a bit), same forward pressure adjustment (different from "newer" salomon, no tab, but a microadjust screw), and to be brutally honest, the STH toepiece is supposed to be BETTER than the 912/914 as far as release, safety, and staying in. No word on whether or not it's better than a 916 toepiece, but since the 916's toe functions essentially the same way as that of a 912/914, albeit with a shit ton more metal, well, you can just kinda assume...
Take it for what it's worth, I might work for a salomon dealer. I do legitimately think it's a good binding.
