07/08 Ski Picture Thread

Is that a two piece reactor-style binding made by Marker??!!?!? No, really, is it? Someone scan a fucking 07-08 marker catalog NOW

wow those 4frnts are nice, im assuming they are the msps, and i just want to get the whole line and mount them on my wall.....very unique idea, with the different times of day on each size, i like it a lot

First Piece of evidence:

Here it is shown on a Vlokl ski in the Volkl both, and everyone knows that Volkl and Marker go hand in hand.

and here it is in the marker catalog:

^ none of those bindings on the volkls are the dukes are they? none of them look like they have the track that the dukes do in all of the pictures, im pretty sure the duke is and AT binding

yeah the dukes are an AT read teh description in the picture it says sumthin about Backcountry specialty or sumthin

yeah, it seemed like the kid who posted the pictures was trying to tell us that the walls had the dukes mounted on them, but that is not the case

yes they are, check the catalog info and the dozens of pictures on other threads showing that they are reverse camber

i duno about reverse camber, but theyre rockered. and for all you wondering about the pontoon its still around, just same graphic.

in the pictures of lines new skis, how could those be lizzies and bacons next to each other...there is no way that is a 10 cetemeter difference between those two in the picture. It doesnt even look like 5 cm difference. Is that a positive that those are the next years lizzies bacons and ep pros?

I saw Sage (sorry bout the name drop) at Whitewater with these and I really like them. They aren't as dorky as they look in the picture and they are super chubby. I bet they are loads of fun in soft snow.

Happy 1001 post to the thread, and the 21'st page. Yay! Now that thats over with:

Repeat picture here, nothing new, just to illustrate a point. The Hellbents are furthest left.

Yep. Reverse Camber alright. In fact, they're so extremely reverse camber that they look like water skis. Oh wait... do mine eyes deceive me?

Thanks! And now on a rather un-sarcastic note...

Anyone know whats up with Technica for next year? I heard something about them releasing a freestyle specific boot for next year with a utter slough of new features designed for park riding...

I'm not being sarcastic dude, I'm asking your opinion. The Armada site uses those terms interchangeably, but they are by no means the definitive resource on skiing. How have you heard the terms defined?

... I was being sarcastic, nevermind, it doesnt work well in type I guess. Reverse Camber = Rockered to my knowledge, bend the tips and tails up against the natural camber of the ski, making a rocking-chair sort of curve. K2 uses the words interchangeably as well, so theres really no argument here.

I believe rockered refers to just the tips and tails come up and underfoot remains flat. Reverse camber= the whole ski is bow shaped.

The EP pro is probably the softest ski i've ever touched. it bent that bunch when he touched one finger to it. yeah, it's that soft, and i want to ski it soo badly.

^dont quote!

here are some infos on the new marker bindings:

WELCOME TO SIA: Check out the best new gear from Vegas

This week marks the annual

SnowSports Industries America (SIA) show in Las Vegas. This week we at

Powder are treated to seeing the best (and worst) new products coming

out for next season. While we can't get too analytical about the stuff

we see in a flourescent-lit, fake-air convention center, we can at

least give you the skinny on what they're all about. As for Showgirls,

that's a different website.

Marker Duke and Jester

Marker.com

With skiers continuing to treat resorts as gateways to the

backcountry, more companies are heeding their call for gear that

performs equally as well on the uphill as the downhill. Marker is the

latest binding manufacturer to play the game, introducing the Duke, a

single-unit alpine binding that includes a climbing function. The Duke

(and its counterpart, the Jester, which doesn&supl;t have the climbing

device) is decidedly different than what Marker aficionados have been

used to in the past, and not just in appearance. The Duke comes with a

climbing mechanism that when activated hinges under the boot toe to

provide efficient touring. The system enables the boot toe to move back

three centimeters for a more neutral or balanced climbing motion.

Despite its place as a touring setup, the Duke is equipped with a 16

DIN (and is available with two brake sizes for fat skis), so skiers can

still go as big and as fast as they want on the downhill. The other

shocker, of course, is its price tag. Suggested retail is $495, so only

the serious need apply. Marker also releases the Jester in the same

line, a similar binding to the Duke in that it meets the demands of

expert freeskiers and freestylers, but without the climbing function.

The price on the Jester is a more comfortable $395.

armadas were pretty sick.. i felt bad taking pictures, sorry. too much madsteez on the ar5 though

I was never trying to say that the white binding mounted on the far right ski was the duke it is the jester, and is what people were saying was the new reactor becuase they saw it on the chronic blends.

If you look closely, youl notce that most of the flex in the EP pro is in the tip and tail, so it will probably ski stffer then it looks in that picture
