I have a high instep and i have found moving the 2nd buckle to the second position creates more room and for me a better fit around my instep. Try it you might like it there or you might hate it, its only a 30 second change over so no harm in testing it

I'm not too sure about the flex in the Garmonts, but a buddy of mine has them and has told me that they arent a great "inbounds" boot. Definatly great for touring, but if your not into that i'd imagine a diffent boot would be better
