So I was at our shops Salomon clinic last night and I had my first look t the new Salomon heelpiece for the two STH bindings. They are awesome. Really really beefy but still lighter than stuff from other brands. They are the best looking heelpiece I've ever seen. I ordered my pair as soon as I got home.

sick, wish they kept the driver toe peice on the 12's tho. and yeah, the heelpiece is buuuurrrly, the steel teack housing should be good. im gonne get some 16s i think cause i get them fo real cheap.

agreed... I put STHs on my new hellbents...

they took the Z12 style design and just took it to the next level. I have z12s on my scratches and the STHs are seriously built in comparison

Yeah, the STH 12's are crazy. Lightweight and they feel really solid. I'm really impressed with my STH12's

anyone know how to figure out the forward pressure on the new STH's?? Its unlike any other binding i have seen or had. It has a worm track much like older rossi axials, but nothing that jumps out as the forward pressure markings....

theres a small square notch in the worm screw, the back of it should line up with the end of the binding.

no, the screw should still sit out about 5mm. the notch really is very hard to see, its recessed into the metal.

Did you find them to be different then any binding you've seen before, or did they make sense to you right away? I don't have them infront of me but when i do, i'll have a look. Thanks for your help.

no they are different to any other binding I have seen. apparently it is the same base plate as the s916 s920 race bindings, which are kind of rare and excessive for most people. I had to ask someone I know how to set the forward pressure. Apparently the toe wings dont need to be adjusted all the time compared with the old s914/s912/s810 which is pretty sweet and I think the new afd plate is supposed to help alot too.

The sth16 is essentially the same binding as the s916, but with a restyled 912/914 style toepiece and wider AFD to better disribute edge/edge transfer on fat skis. The sth12 is a z12, 912, whatever you want to call it - with a worm screw heel and fat AFD.

I dont think they do. The tyrolia majo15 has vertical toe release, and I'm pretty sure the rossi axial/scratch 140 has it too.
