maybe you didn't use enough gel, and the drop in looks kinda short, and the jump on looks like its too long of an up slope, so if possible, make the jump on flat with a lip at the end of it

if you have to cut them, snap a line with a chalk line to get a straight line, and just use a handsaw going slowly and carefully and it will be fine

oh, well with 1/2 inch HDPE you wont need it, but plywood is cheap and it would probably be a good idea, but with that frame its not mandatory

its confusing what your saying, but if you mean on the top of the 2x4 frame, then its a must, with out it the HDPE will bend and youll not slide smooth, but with half inch HDPE it might not be completly necessary, but its deffinatly a good idea
