I just got mine and made a batch ANDDDDDDDDDD....wait for it...IT DOESN'T WORK! I have a 6 foot high drop in and my rail is 1.5 feet tall and it is too slow....omg i went faster with just wet turf....someone help me....I have a rail jam next weekend and it isn't going to happen if i can't get speed, even with gel, to get on the damn rail!

Yeah sure......I completely changed it and it barley works......I swear the gel is sticky and doesn't do anything...........ok well I'm going outside to take pics and maybe a vid.

a) It was really sturdy and then I added the second part to it.....my dad is an engineer (he built the tower and sturdy ramp part).....ahha I made the ghetto take off...

b) I had it really steep and it was worse than it is now.....I can make it to the end of the rail...barely. Before I had lots of speed but it was all lost going up the jump part so I ghetto rigged it and made it a flat to ride on. ahha yeah so I know what ur thinking though

maybe you didn't use enough gel, and the drop in looks kinda short, and the jump on looks like its too long of an up slope, so if possible, make the jump on flat with a lip at the end of it

I have just enough speed now, but as you can see there isn't even a jump......I thought this stuff was slippery as hell.....papasteez said nips went fast enough for an 8 foot gap....wtf.

yeah something is very wrong somewhere. Dumb questions first.

1. Did you add water to the concentrate per the instructions?

2. Did you wet the carpet before applying the gel. if yes, did you soak it or dampen.

3. How did you apply the gel to the carpet.

4. Whats the temperature outside?

5. What is the carpet you are using?

We are having to rebuild our in runs and rail positions because the set is just too fast with the gel. We tried soap and water, but it was too "grabby" We are talking about building a summer jump with piles of wood chips using snow gel on carpet.

I am boarding.....but I also ski...and I think skiing is just as cool as boarding. Anybody else have any suggestions?

1. I used around 1/2 of the tub (maybe a little less). And filled a 5 gallon bucket with 3-4 gallons of water (maybe a littttle too much but you said you had used more water than instructed if I recall right).

2. I did not wet the carpet before applying, but as soon as I put it on I dampened it lightly.

3. I applyed the gel with a cup.

4. It is 60* right now but I would say the high was 70-80*F.

5. I am using astroturf(indoor/outdoor carpet) from home depot.

Damn I want my gel to work that good. I mean my inrun is 6 feet tall so I thought I'd be flying. How tall is your inrun (i forget).

I think we might have about 10 feet of verticle, there are two sheets of plywood for 16 foot run into the transition and another 6 feet in the tranny and lip.

I would guess the lip is 2 foot of verticle. The gap is over 30 inches and the rail is 18' long. Nips was landing in the middle of the rail. so we are changing the set up by regrading another in-run next to this one. it won't be as steep and will be just a flat rail installed level.

also, you have no transition, it goes from down to up, and i found this winter that that kills your speed, try having a few feet of flat between your dropin and your jump

The flat was killing my speed completeley....and that jump isn't really a "jump".....it is thew flats ahaha. My old setup was steeper with like 6 foot flat and then a jump....I couldn't even get on the rail.

And more wet.....It was really wet when I used it, just not in the pic, and there was also more gel on the ramp.

Is that the Parkerhouse (sp?) edit. If so I did see it. It made me go woah (along with papasteez saying he has too much speed) and I bought some. Mine does not work near close to yours did. That is my issue.

dude, you are going to have to change your set completely and try something different. You mentioned you are a snowboarder, while I doubt that has anything to do with your lack of speed, Ido feel it could a contributing factor combined with the carpet type, transition, hieght of drop in, rail material condition of you bases.

yah what kind of carpet is best

for summer set ups in the past ive used a long skinny roll of indoor carpet (i beleive its saxony) that we took out of a dumpster behind a carpet store, but im worried that if we use snowgel on it it may just sink into the carpet and produce bad results.

maybe im just being paranoid but has anyone else used indoor carpet?

how about you completly take all that set up down, get lots of astro turf and just use your niffty diffty go cart to tow your ass in!

UPDATE:

1) I just had a sesh with my friend. We completely changed the setup and I made 2- 8'x1'x1' boxes.

2) We used snowgel, and had just enough speed. Most of the sesh we just used one 8 foot box.

3) Next time we are getting two truckloads of snow from the ice rink that is 5 minutes away. Snowgel does help with speed slightly, but I still failed to be impressed.

4) I would used that "nifty" dune buggy idea, but that's too complicated, and probably still wouldn't work good. Also, I wouldn't be able to practice by myself.

5) I'll have pics and a short vid up in the morining.

Snowgel does work.

turtleman321 and i made a batch yesterday and spread it on some carpet in his front yard. it worked just as described.

notes:

1. its not snow

2. use a tarp like they describe on the website, we lost a lot of snowgel off the sides of the carpet especially near the takeoff

3. the bucket it comes in is a half gallon, so you can use it to add water

4. it gets EVERYWHERE, it sticks all over your skis and then it gets on your hands. then if you fall you basically get covered in it. this is really the only annoying part about it, but dont worry because it washes right off with a hose.

5. it looks like fish eggs

ill get back to you guys after a week or so to see if its held up in storage.

I got some snow gel and just finished our first session on it....it was really fast (sometimes a little too fast) we had enough speed to change our flat box set up to a up- gap- down and we didnt use that much snow gel

I just rode today only using my turf....no snowgel. And I jibbed my 8' down box easily......I did have a flat down set up [the 8' down box with my other 8' box (set up slightly down)], but I couldn't make it all the way to the end. With my setup I never touch the ground for the inrun. I made it so there is the ramp, and a platform with a jump on it.
