I have actaully logged into my Newschoolers account for the first time in a few years, although I am on the site almost every day. The reason I am logging on is to say that "JenniferGagner is an idiot" her above comments are some of the dumbest things i have read on the internet.
Bottom line, Tanner repped RedBull hard and definitely contributed to the success of their marketing plan. Even during his injuries he was visible and actively supporting. I do agree with the comment above that RedBull is ruining the sport. The drive for contest results and mega-movies (Ex. Art of Flight) have taken away from the pureness of skiing, having fun with your friends and creating. I'm not saying I don't enjoy killer Heli shoots and events such as cold rush, but the fact remains that the majority of the folks on this site don't ski for scores or segments. Think about Tanner what you want, but YOU OWE HIM YOUR RESPECT. He has done a ton for the sport and he's done it his own way. He's worked to return from setbacks and lost friends along the way. Anybody can conform to what they're expected to do. Very few obtain his level of succes, while keeping true to himself. No one knows the inner dealings of RedBull or Tanner, but speculation is what is making this a little bitch arguement.
Honestly this is one of the worst pieces of "journalism" I have ever seen. From the HUGE spelling errors in the TITLE for god sakes, to the piss poor grammar, and uninformed assumptive statements, this is a HORRIBLE article.
To be honest. Hall didn´t deserve to be sponsored by Red Bull anymore regardless of w/e the situation was regarding why they decided to drop him.
When you think of Red Bull, you think of people that dominate their sports. I know i will get hated for this, but i would love to se Wallisch getting picked up by Red Bull.
He is on another level, he dominates, and he deserves it.
fuck that, sponsorships shouldnt always be about podiums, THall brings so much more to the table. The man wore that same damn helmet and redbull hat in every piece of media he was in since becoming a RB athlete, including closing segments and cover shots. Hall is a major influence in skiing, now and forever. for RB to drop him like that without basis besides "he might not be the best ever anymore" is fucking dumb.
Tanner Hall has my respect and he is one of my idols. I still think that ending his and Red Bull's contract was for the best. Red Bull is all about skiers who are pushing the limit and are (at least to some extent) serious athletes. T Hall represents another part of the field, the part that chills with their homies and smokes pot all day long if they aren't skiing. This may not be a fact, but it's easy to get that impression. Tanner is probably not going to be pushing the limits or winning huge comps anymore, so he and Red Bull have clearly drifted apart to represent different areas of the sport. Respect to both of them, we need all sorts in skiing!
