holy fuck.....couldnt believe it when i read it on the news.

Such a great character in the sport. The whole ski community will be affected by this.

RIP Shane. Vibes out to friends and family.

Growing up watching Shane was a treat not to be forgotten. He brought the sport to a new level, while at the same time keeping to his roots of good old mountain skiing and goofy fun. He was the reason I got into skydiving, and constantly motivated me to go bigger. A true legend who will be greatly missed. RIP. Sincerest condolences to family and close friends.

Shane McConkey was an incredible inspiration to me. When watching him on film in 1999 with Scott and Rob Gaffney to his recent work, I was always amazed by the amount of fun he has. RIP to a legend

the state of modern skiing would not have been the same without him. he was an integral part of shaping the sport that we all love and enjoy today. rest in peace.

I can't believe this... I started skiing because I watched something about mcconkey. shane was my idol growing up. i hope his wife saves this thread to read to the daughter later
