It's been 20 days now and hardly a day passes without us being reminded of who Sherry, Ayla, family, friends and the whole skiing community have lost...

Loud music, a lot of attitude and a fair dose of testosterone... those things are all embedded in the DNA of ski movies as we know them.

In such a super-charged environment, it's hard for a personality to stand out. Shane did; partly thanks to the level of skiing and the innovative performances he always delivered – but mainly thanks to his attitude. I think the look we, as an audience, so often saw on his face after skiing another crazy line, represents exactly what unites all skiers.

His stunts made me drop my jaw. His personality always made me smile. His contribution to the skiing world is beyond words.

Thank you for all those fantastic, insane, mindboggling moments, Shane.

My very deepest condolences for your loss, Sherry and Ayla.

All the best,

:: hakan ::

Stockholm, Sweden
