i'm sorry but i have to make a "hater" post on the whole nike thing... nike really pisses me off because they have now, capitolized on the skateboarding culture, after 4 seperate attempts that failed miserably because skateboarding has always been about companies that are skater owned and operated and not big corporations and until they signed p-rod they were shunned from the sport but now they have gotten the kids hooked and are actually succeeding in making a profit off of skateboarding. Thats the thing that really irks me about companies like nike, roxy, and any other huge corporation that decides to get involved in a sport after it has gained popularity simply to make a profit off of it. Nike has absolutely nothing to do with skiing, they weren't there when newschool skiing was created and they are only in it now because they can make a buck off of it, christ they don't even make any ski related equipment! why would any skier support a company that used child labor and manufactures most of their products over seas yet makes its money off of the american consumer thus not supporting the american economy or the ski industry in general. the point that sammy makes is about a nike sponsored ski commercial that will help promote the sport to a wider audience and yes that will mean more money in the sport as a whole but do we really want a non skier oriented corporation to portray our sport to the world? i say no! i do find it ironic that sammy turned down a line (strong ski based company thats been around since the beginning) deal to stay with salomon and now he's sponsored by nike. no offence sammy but you should think more about supporting the ski industry than your wallet. I mean look at him in that picture, he's a walking billboard, an amazing skier though...

i dont think theres a lot of hate in our sport i just think theres a lot of hate on this site. like if you go skiing here in the midwest the skiers here are the nicest people in the world.

oh, and sammy gettin paid 1,000,000/yr for wearing shit he doesnt even wear during skiing, NIKE SB, is very impressive for a 17 yr old, or anyone... thats a great interview, tip the hat.

Sammy sounds like a sick guy for sure. He's living the big life right now and looks really grounded too. Definatly one of the best skiers right now and in the years to come. And for his future after skiing, I'm 100% he's still going to be in the industry like he said, I have no doubt at all.

OH and thats a real shame about that priceless footage at whistler... shame not even sammy got to see it, CUZ I DIID

^^^sammy is more stoked on skiing than most of the other pros, and he doesnt ski for the money like some other people. even if nike is just in skiing for the money, their ad wont display skiing in a bad light, they probably got a lot of skier input to make it as beneficial to our industry as possible. AND sponsored/pro athletes have to put those stickers and shit on their helmets so they can promote thier compaines and bring more money to the skiing industry. You can hate on nike and sammy for making money, but it all goes back into making our sport bigger and better.
