wow. i can't believe this. i hope his family, especially his daughter, comes through this with their heads held high, proud of what he has done for the sport he loves. my thoughts go out to them.

Shane you were the guy who tought me how to ski through your movie footage of making it look like the funnest thing in the world. I'd be nowhere without that inspiration. Float on.

dude im from nz and my 2 flatmates told me wat hapnd.der aslep rit now but dude u are my hero.u r da dude who pushed sking.k2 wudnt b ne wer wit out yr crazy shit.but yer i think its weird to say it like dis but dude.u r da man and if ne was wit u i wish it was me cuz u r the hero of sking.i have watched evry ski dvd.i had a spinal indury and knw i cant do much but im tryn to hang wit my mates.tis is weird i knw u cant hear me but u were the one who made a difference from me walking again.wat else was i guna do on my bk.....i dont knw wat to say but im a student and i havnt been able to do anythn bcuz of 2day.i fuckn love u man comin from new zealand and u r a idol 2 every sking coming in2 the crowd.i knw u cant read this but if ne1 in yr family does then its really tough and i cant even think wat is going on but im sure evey1 in the world knws about it.he loves good times... and wont stop....miss u man....yrl always b my hero and many young guns to cum...i will tell the story..it hard for me to stop typn but i need to go.you made sking wat it is today

RIP one of the first faces of skiing i knew

Shane is the one skier that I always looked up to. He seemed like to the coolest guy and had the greatest drive to enjoy life. Love this guy!!! Much sympathy to wife and kid

i still can't believe this happened. this is one skier that i always looked up to and always will. someone that brought innovation and a crazy, fun attitude to skiing whether it was with saucerboy or answering letters in freeze.

shane you will be truly missed by all but never forgotten!

Shane is the reason I quit racing to do my own thing on the hill. He showed everyone how fun this sport really is. "Something About McConkey" should be a household item. RIP Shane and all the best to his Wife and little daughter.
