Just scrape the underside of your boots on your toepiece (unless of course you have Salomon s810/z10/Marker m1000 etc in which case the toepiece is likely to explode at that point)
The bootfitting process doesn't generally cost money but I think it's bad form to go in there and waste an hour of the fitters time if you are intending to buy them elsewhere
