Aright guys, i no this has been posted a lot but i would like to hear some opinions. im getting one of these for christmas and i just wanted to know which one overall is the better deal.

i was wondering the same thing. My parents wont let us dl limewire so ill have to pay for songs but the unlimited $15 is really appelaing
 
^^ like most of those deals, its 'unlimited' for $x.xx per month until you stop paying, then you're no longer to play any of that music you bought.. unlike iTunes where you buy it once and its yours for life

from what i have seen, buy a zune.

they are based on microsoft code (way better than apple),

$50 bucks cheaper, can access wifi, have bigger screen,

you must be computer illiterate if you cant get videos on your ipod or think all music is restricted.. and the cost compared to say 'Arcos' and other video devices of 30gb or more is actually cheaper. headphones suck?? is that really a reason? you know they make headphones in various designs.... and you can use other headphones with an ipod.. scratched up??? go to www.iskin.com and get the best cover made..

buyin a portable music device is like buyin a car.. it takes a little effort to make it to your liking.. ie case, headphones, software used...

dont go bashing the item that started the craze just cause you dont know how to take care of something or operate a computer.
 
haha you ARE fucking idiot! how do they restrict your music? you mean they dont let you take shit off your ipod and put it on another person's computer? thats called Apple covering their own ass, and there's a shitload of programs out there both for mac and pc that will do the trick just fine.. (read: Senuti) impossible to get video on them? itunes literally copies your videos onto it for you, you dont even have to mess with it

there are no valid points in your argument

apple has over 90% of the under 30gb market, while they have 70% of the over 30gb and market... they're doing something right homie!
 
Actually iTunes DOES restrict your music. They invented their own format that lets only 5 computers play it at a time, and you cant edit video with what you just bought. Its not hard to make it possible, and that guy is an idiot, but Im just saying, he is right about that.
 
if you get a Zune, dont get a Zune. get a Toshiba Gigabeat from amazon.com. first of all, it comes in 60 gig if you want. second, it is EXACTLY the same as a Zune. Toshiba makes the Zune, afterall, and Microsoft made the software for the Gigabeat, so they are literally the same.
 
the 5 computer thing and their format they developed (AAC m4a files) have nothing to do with each other whatsoever

the 5 computer thing is so that you cant have a million computers playing your music you bought, or else people would be giving all their friends their passwords, everyone would use 1 persons 'purchased' song, and the itunes music store would not make money and bomb

the AAC format was developed by apple to retain the same cd quality as mp3 192kbps bit rate, but a smaller file size.. therefore being able to store more on your computer/ipod at the same cd quality audio vs. the same quality audio but less music as in mp3 format
 
yeah but thats still a restriction...a reasonable one, but still, Im just sayin. It is more restriction that pirated or music off a CD I guess is what Im trying to say.
 
2 of my friends have iRivers and neither will buy theme again because of problems.
 
well yah, it is a restriction, but that's not at all how you stated it originally. their restricting it to 5 computers and their AAC format they developed have nothing to do with each other. and obviously it's more restricted than pirated music or ripping it off a cd, how do you expect them to keep track of anything, make any money, or judge what is a success or not?
 
creatives are the best, the only prob that i had was that i couldnt use itunes to put my music on it(which makes sense) and that some jackass stole it.
 
i'm hearin there are problems from my "techie" bro. i don't know what but he's on the computer playin shit all day long so i figure he knows what up. but i've have my 30gig video since 2 weeks after they came out and its yet to fail me
 
i wouldnt listen to senortetas comminuty of ns if i were you. he is incredibly biest twards apples, and i bet if apple was a person he would have sex with it(no matter what the gender).
 
no dude ur absolutely wrong you still are able to play the songs that would be so fuckin stupid if you couldnt play it after, i guarantee you those services let you keep the music or else thats bullshit dude

you're right. ive worked for apple for the past 4.5 years, i am completely biased. but apparently so are all of the other millions of people who use ipods as well. what do we know anyway?!
 
I would choose Ipod over anything on any given day...

As long as it doesnt have the whole cloverleaf thing to doubleclick and it doesnt eat your cd's and then crash itself to the point you practically have to rip out the battery to get it to turn off its alllll good!

Random Freezing + Cloverleaf BS > Microsoft Blue Screen of Doom + Viruses.
 
I think ipods are gay becaus the communists invented their own format, now I basically have to buy another ipod if I want to keep my music. I wasnt a samsung k5. looks rad
 
I personally own an ipod and love it, the zune is still in its infancy so it is going to encounter problems for a little while.Yes any hard drive (many GB player) is going to have hard drive problems because a hard drive has moving parts and when being handled all the time it will have issues. As far as buying music from Itunes as well as most other pay for music places they have to restrict what you can do with the files you download. there is a simple way to circumvent this. burn the music to an audio cd (or a virtual audio disc) then use a program to rip the music from the cd into MP3 form. Even itunes will rip music from cds into MP3s, you just have to change the preferences.

is the ipod the best... for me yes, for you who knows go out and try them at a store such as best buy. see if you like how the interface works(ie searching for songs, scrolling, random etc.) everyone will have a different preference to which size and interface and blah blah blah. I will say this for ipods they have the most by far amount of periphreals, which to me was awesome. when i can control my ipod from my indash radio in my car while the ipod sits hidden in my console, it is awesome.
 
^^^ i think i saw something like over 70% of the cars that come out in the next year will be ipod ready, but again, im biased.
 
Im willing to bet that infact that meirly means they have a audio in port "for ipods or other mp3 players". An 8th inch input jack
 
that or a cable with a dock adapter, i have no clue which, but yah my car has an 1/8" stereo input so that might be it
 
ok...wow this is a good heated subject...

well lets say first i HAD an Ipod Video 30GB white...unfortunitly it was stolen from me at school a year ago, i loved it...i never had any problems with it, i bought a nice hard plastic clear case so no scratches at all in that result...and videos uploaded them fine, you just have to make sure they are the correct file type, and if they arent which i think they have to be mp4 you have to convert them...

so i have been ipod less for a year now and really do miss it, but my friends in school have been getting "Creative Zen V" and they are very nice, small only around 2 - 4 gb ... but i am seriously considering them, they fit anywehre and have a colored screen, just a nice solid mp3 player...

but if you have the choice between a ipod or zune...i would definitly go with the ipod, very good and reliable...i never had a battery problem with mine, though like i said i had it for like 7 months before it got stolen...but if you get the nice warrenty with it from apple (like i had) you never have to worry about the battery just bring it to their store and they will replace it...

the only reason i said that you are biased is because you are. i've never herd you say anything bad about apple, yet there are so many flaws with apples os and whatnot. now myself on the otherhand i like to look at all options before i buy a product, for example the computer that i use the most is a pc that i built my self, but when my sister needed a new laptop for college i told her she should look into the new macbooks since shes an art major, and she got one. but so far i've only seen you reccomend apple products even if its not the best option. and as for portable music players, ipods are deff one of the best out there, but not the best. companies like creative have become cheaper solutions for pc owners, without sacraficeing storage or quality. all im trying to say is that mabye you should look at other brands besides the one named after a fruit.
 
for more information about the creatives check out the reviews on ns of them, they have cheaper accesories than the ipod, aswell as some nice features that you would have to drop mad cash on to have the ipod, like exchangeable batteries, built in mic, and built in fm player with 40 presets.
 
ive never said anything bad about apples because i dont really think there are anything bad about apples. after growing up with an apple in my home almost all of my life, as well as having to use pc's through middle school/high school/college, id still go with an apple any day for doing ANYTHING. hence why im so supportive of them, as well as the fact that ive worked for them for nearly 5 years.

look i really hate people who use threads to argue in.. so if you wanna keep talking PM me or somethin.. otherwise, people who're considering a zune can just read the reviews and watch the news and decide for themselves..
 
i can list prob with both pcs and apples, like pcs are prone to freezing and apples have been known to catch on fire.
 
meh, its a cool concept, but i would much rather have an ipod or creative. first generations usually have big problems and glitches, also not enough people have them for the wireless transmitions of songs to be worth it.

in any case THE IPOD SUCKS. YOU HEARD ME! The Zune probably sucks more from what I have heard, and even though the ipod sucks, its the best MP3 player out there BY FAR (a few small exceptions).

few things to clear up:

Windows isnt great, but its not bad, LEARN TO USE IT IF YOU THINK IT SUCKS!

Apples are overpriced!

Most MP3 players other then Ipods break. Ipods break too, but not nearly as much (if you can beleve it!) as other MP3 players. Creativs suck (although I dont know about this newest generation). Irivers break. They all break!

The wireless transfer of music feture that the zune has is COMPLETLY USELESS. You can only play the file 3 times and then it gets rid of the file (otherwise it would allow you to pirate music).

The iPod would be much better with a different OS on it. I used the mentioned rockbox software, and I like it. One great thing about it is, you just drag and drop music files on your hard drive as if it was another hard drive. you can create folders for organization as well. It works for Ipod, as well as many other mp3 players instead of the os that comes on them. that being said, atleast for ipod, DONT USE IT! It freezes all the time. Other then that, it is great, with much of the fetures that ipods should have (screensavers, more games, better EQ, Bass and Treble customizations and so on.) It also has other programs do things such as view images (on my black and white 4g ipod) and edit text files. It also has search on it. Basically its packed with fetures, if only it wouldnt freeze! On top of that, there is many customizations for the interface and the "now playing" screen.

Heres what they should have, and I will spend money once this comes out:

something close to the size of an ipod that is also a good digital camera and a cell phone, along with an Mp3 player. They have some crazy cell phones in japan and europe. I think that they can do this, and it wouldnt be too hard. They have a 10 megapixel camer-phone in japan right now! All they have to do is add an Mp3 player on it! I know this is demanding. I also know that they can do it, although at this point, they probably wont be able to build in more then 4 gigs of memory into it.
 
YEA MAN, and you should be able to watch cable TV. they should put a microwave on it too, so when movies come on you can microwave some popcorn. maybe even a security system too, in case someone tries to steal it. yea i don't understand why they don't make this shit!!!111111!one!!!!!!!11111!!
 
lol yea they are. Thats one of the first things they did with the zune. Try to make it as close to the ipod as possible while still being uniquely different. Just wait till they make a 2nd or 3rd gen Zune. First gens ALWAYS suck. They get better as time goes by. And besides, Apple is about to put out the new ipod within the next 3ish months. Just give it some time.
