ZOOTSPACE IS HERE

I dislocated my shoulder super fucking hard so I wasnt gonna ski til my surgery but idgaf after watching that im going to get some clips

yooo that was pretty fuckin dope.

I think solo projects are finally on the way out.

Loved the homie vibe, the crew segments and the filler shinandigans

Reminds me of the ol' days.

Huge hits stashed into the whole project.

word.

Zootspace, I wanted most

but fr the shots of wall rides on windows, zero down the stair case, lots of hits are low key game changers for spot selection

Skiing gets down on its knees for skateboarding once again.

eh, this is just how street skiing movies look these days.

maybe you could've made this comment 5 years ago but keeping up the whole "skiing copies snowboarding/skating" dialogue is kinda pointless and dead when a bunch of the guys are skaters/snowboarders too and the aesthetics between them all aren't clearly one before the other anymore. if anything this reminds me most of late 90's/early 2000s snowboarding movies just based on the songs but even then they're still doing their own unique thing with this movie that doesn't have to be pigeon-holed into "durr they copied skating"

How in the fuck did you not get kicked out of the PC bus station, East High, Foothill Place, etc. etc?

Meeks tore his ACL. Yeah Paddy and Andy were great, I wish they made more edits. We need to get Andy sponsored again tho

Sorry to bump and old thread. But, rewatching Zootspace and god is this shit good.

Does anybody know who the skier at 12:10 is? Probably my fav shot in the movie the way it lines up with the music.

I just re-watched the other night and I know what you mean, so good and girls are entertained by it too

It's Dylan Anderson, one of the guys in the Cromat video

might be an unpopular opinion but like half of the ski videos this year feel like zootspace wannabes. understandable though, zootspace is pretty legendary

I'm not complaining. I really like the grungy fast paced urban type theme and a lot of movies pulled it off fairly well.

I don’t think zootspace invented that aesthetic, pretty sure that supreme skate vid from a few years ago was kind of when action sports started to follow that particular style of movie but I could be wrong. Like it wouldn’t be fair to call every movie from the 2010s a Poorboyz wannabe, it’s just an aesthetic or a way of compiling and presenting their skiing that happens to align with pop culture

I don't disagree but you gotta admit that zootspace blew up in a way that a ski movie hasn't for a long time, and they embodied that aesthetic in a very memorable way. It's also been a super regional aesthetic, all of the american movies tend to have a zootspace vibe whereas the scandi movies (forrmula, love you too) are more into high production value these days. Other people influencing and inspiring people is cool and necessary but it's also hard not to notice the similarities

Not gonna discredit zootspace because that would just be stupid…

But I mean, Child Labor’s “The Strike” came out in 2019 and I would say that’s the first time I saw a film with the kind of disorganized medley of clips, brutally raw and disorganized with a very noticeable lack of structure. You can say zootspace influenced them, but child labor was doing it in 2019, and plus a bunch of other projects began to follow that formula before 2021 as well. Baller movie for sure but let’s not let the halo effect of a generational ski movie overshadow what other great crews have done

A lot of times the people who have the most influence aren't the first ones to do it. Yeah there have been plenty of movies with the same disorganized style, going as far back as Finito I'd say. That doesn't change the fact that I saw a bunch of pros like T hall and andy parry give shoutouts to zootspace specifically, and I think that's something rare to see for any movie. And since zootspace dropped that style of editing and filming has become much, much more popular.

Yeah I mean this comment I can 100% agree with. I was more so kind of pissed you used the word “wannabes” cuz that’s kind of a jab at everyone making everyone seem like style leeches. Just wanted to point at least the part about them not being first just to kinda shift that mentality cuz I don’t like that word lmfao

Also just had to hard agree with the influencers not always being the first to do it. Like people may have been doing butters before Phil and henrik, but I think those two kind of stamped their names on the butter, especially dollo.
