Zoa Backcountry Rope Tow

I'm most worried for the decapitation of unaware snow riders ? (snowboard, sled, snowbike etc)... I say that tongue in cheek...but for real too!

i've never used, and maybe i'm being a little old and crotchety, but i hate the idea. i agree that it kinda defreats the point of touring, i mean half the fun is going up. and its also kinda impratical for a lot of actual touring.

feel like the thing it would be most useful for would be repeatedly hitting a kicker in the backcountry??

idk maybe i gotta embrace the future, man, but as of right now i hate the idea. feel like if i saw one in the backcountry it would make me sad

Agreed- gives me “ebikes of touring” vibes. If i wanted to ski downhill id just go to the resort.

I can see the utility for hitting BC booters considering you are there for that and touring is not your main focus. Conserves energy in that respect. That said, you either have to hit the jump with this thing in your backpack or have a real good friend who is going to ski it back down to start the process all over again.

Looks like the rope line stays were you put it. If hitting a jump youd have to keep the tow box thing on you. It could be fun for a backyard setup. Anyone have to opportunity to demo and drop a review?

I guess it depends on what you think "the point" of touring is? I enjoy the skin up, but the best part of touring to me has always been the actual skiing part. A few years back we ran a survey and posted it here as well as other places where we could get feedback from skiers. It seemed to confirm that I'm in line the overwhelming sentiment. It's a pretty small minority of ski tourers that primarily do it for the exercise or to push the limits of their endurance.

I think we've created a product that let's you enjoy both the up and down and just optimizes the part we enjoy most. It's admittedly not for every backcountry mission, but I think nearly everyone who goes backcountry skiing has days where it adds a ton of value.
