Zine scene ya know what I mean?

so me and my buddy who recentley got fired have been thinking about starting up a little underground newspaper zine thingie with all this free time we gots. anyone else do this? done it? know about it? thought about it? want to do it?

we're just getting all our freinds together and getting any kind of stuff they want to get out there like short stories or drawings writings reveiws etc etc etc. We're planning on distributing it wherever theres a "Phoenix" which is like a local arts and music paper from the portland, maine area. I dunno, if anyones so bored with summer they are going crazy you should try making a zine...or something interesting.

If you are serious about doing this, go for it. Are you sure you have some worthwhile content? If you are good at writing/photography/art you should consider the internet as a venue, then you can have nearly instant feedback on your material. Make sure you do a good job, because I have seen many 'zines' from my area and they are laughable at best.

This is kind-of like what me and some of my college buddies are going to do. We wrote a decent script for a 'Heroes-esque' film, and the project stirred up some nice creative material. My friend plans to find a good graphic designer and make a comic book based off of what we created. The whole thing will be purely internet, but if it shows promise, he will move to the next step.

its mostly my buddys thing, cuz he got fired, I still have a job. We're not trying to make any money just trying to have some fun. Thought about the internet, not really my thing, It's more of a throwback to the old days I guess, trying to start something in my city really, just a way for people to get their words heard. If it goes nice we will probably try and make a bigger impact as we go. we shall see.
