Zero Spin....

I haven't ever been in a comp...but do Zero Spins score well?? it seems like they would cuz they are super technical. If you don't know what it is...don't bother replying...newbies. thanks

it depends on who's judging..if other newschoolers are judging it, then hell yea... but if it's being judged by a buntch of people never on skis before or even boarders..then they might just see it as a straight air thats backwards...

I've done a couple of zero's in contests and the judges did not score them well. mabe one day things will change for the better.

yea, if the judge know theyr shits it's gonna score well but if they dont know a shit about skiing, it wont.

i like skiing more with a style, my fav skier is eric pollard cause of his style. when he spins like his body stays in the same position in the whole rotation, and he comes up with som pretty creative stuff, like the zero spin.i like it when i does big 180's too. peace

a zero is one of those tricks that if it looks good it's sick but if it looks shitty than you're better off doing a daffy...

totally right darryl. if you're going to throw a zero spin in a big comp it better be flawless

Why not call it switch straight air instead of zero-spin? A plain straight air is also a zero-spin afterall.

Zeros are so hard to do well, and I find they dont do well in comps at all, because they look so simple. I think they are about the same difficulty as a cork 7 or mayeb a little easier than a 900.

yeah, i've done them before in a comp, but we only have snowboard judges so the don't score them high. i did a switch zero tailgrab at an SOS event and they didn't like it at all.

bunch of f**kin' savages in this town

you know that shit?

chances are you'll get higher score with a fakie 3, becusae the judges see rotation, switch take off, switch landing, so they imediately think it's harder

mike nick was doin them at wssi and he got third i think...tanner and turpin were doing swutch 7 and 9

zeros off big tables are really hard. they are pretty hard off small jumps too. they would do good if you put in a grab i bet.

Mosley, you are telling us newbies not to reply when you yourself have never attended a comp?

i think i'm gonna start callin my strait airs switch zero spins.....i'm damn good at those.

if you dont have a grab it is no good at all

i have done them and i like them best with a simple grab like a safety, japan critical

if you go for mutes or crosses they look no good

they look so sweet if they are huge in the pipe/qtr pipe! i gotta learn em

switch 3's are way easier than zero spins...zerospins are so hard...

Whats the most important factor in winning a halfpipe competition?

some guy:'boostin wicked air, spinnin sweet moves, and tweakin the fuck out of it---thats a pissah run in my books'

Zero spin is not the same as a straight air. A zero spin has a switch take off and a switch landing and usually you do not look at the ground or landing. Alot harder than it sounds.

in the pipe they look really sweet. eric pollard made them look good with a mute, but its better done with a saftey, or if u can do it without eating it, a tail.

'powder before pussy'

pollard qualified for the xgames last year at the squaw qualifier with a zero spin.... but in low level comps ussually the judges wont recognize the difficulty.

i do as well, a zero was the first switch trick i ever tried and i broke my hand.

-10, 1 to do it and 9 to say, 'I can do that.'

i saw a zero spin... didnt look to hard... then i tried it on my feet and feel... nuff said

haha... switch zero spin... thats gold

'I've said it before and I'll say it again.... democracy just doesn't work'

zero spins are deffinately very difficult, but i wouldn't go as far as saying they are as difficult or more than a cork 9

i wouldnt reall agree w/ the whole 'bigger comp' thing. at the X-games, the announcers were shitheads and didnt know anything outside of skiing. the faulkers were like 'Yeah, well pollards gonna have to do a lot more spinning next run.' the sad truth is that the general public just doesnt get the whole concept of style

totally!! i saw this guy last weekend up at Whistler do a zerospin!! soooooo sick. def the future of skiing. i hope we see alot more progression in this direction in the future!!

i got scored well for a 180 lol i thnk judges see rotation and think wow, thats nice and like if you can i nice HUGE floaty 3 would probalby not be as well scored as a totally pencillled/hucked oh even a 5

if the judges are younger and more into newschool skiing and not just the same old stuff then ya it probably will score real high

the best name for a straight air is a switch frontside zerospin. then you be like, I pulled a switch frontside zerospin with a 180 out! and gapers will be like woah!

hahaha... SOOOOO OLD! ANd I hate zero spins in comps. They're essentially just a switch straight air, and if you have a brain they can be done easily.
