Zeitgeist The Movie

everyone should watch it. It's long, but only the first part is really about religion. so don't get too caught up in that.

at least watch the part about religion.

open your minds and you will learn a lot from this movie.

it seriously brought me to tears.

Go watch it. Now. It's seriously the most controversial movie I've ever seen, yet so amazing. Think of everything that offends people when you contradict it...... put into one movie.

bump

and damn, makes me not want to live in this world

one thing that i thought of while watching the 3rd part, there is no way that the "known" richest man in the world is the richest. watch it and you'll see what i mean.

haha, great movie

Looks like the first part (religion) is there mostly to open people up to the fact that their worldview is shaped by a system that is almost certainly fabricated.

I recommend watching this then eating some magic mushrooms and reflecting on it. Good times.

this movie is so fucking intense! our government is so fucking corrupt! WATCH THIS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT! THE MOVIE WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!

I think it's fascinating, but if you actually beleive that, and it has changed your life, you are retarded.  It's interesteding to think about, but it's completely fabricated.  I find it more interesting how they did it all, pretty cool.

a source doesn't make something true. a source just means you took someone else's work and giving them credit for it. no way does it mean their information is true itself.

true. but proof of your research also gives credibility whether it is true or not. also, how can you blatantly claim that his sources aren't truthful when you (most likely) have never read or looked at any of them yourself? That's like saying you don't like Apples when you've never tried one before.

alrite wow. just watched the whole thing, i've heard about it for a while just never actually found the time before to go and watch it

here's what im gonna say, after watching the movie im agnostic. i don't know, it obviously would be a little ridiculous to immediately believe everything the movie tries to address about how corrupt our government is, however, at the same time, zeitgeist does raise alot of questions which potentially do lead to very scary conclusions

..i really don't know. zeitgeist was a powerful movie that is for sure worth watching and reflecting over, yet the power of those facts is just too strong to immediately accept with absolute certainity

I never said that the sources weren't real.  I was just saying they are taking bits and pieces and puting them together into a believable story (ie fabricating)  I think its fascinating, but still, and wouldn't change my beliefs just on this, because I have heard alot of things that sound believable.  Commercials come to mind, for random stuff, Iike "seen on tv", it's all crap, but it looks like the best thing ever on tv.  It may be good, but I would need to test it out first.  You know what I mean?  I think watching this movie, and changing your beliefs is irrational.

????

you watch something thought provoking, then you say it's irrational to change your beliefs... you don't have to begin to follow what zietgeist says religiously but it's irrational for you to maintain your previous beliefs without questioning them in any way.

You're presented with evidence for three topics, you should therefore rationaly change your beliefs to atleast question the evidence presented, as well as the evidence you had (in relation to the three topics) prior to watching the video. It is irrational for you to disregard this movie completely on the basis of it having a different story than you're use to, which you therefore decide to pretend it never said anything at all.

Religion, government, and money are all fabricated things that people buy into despite them all being a bunch of crap that looks good on t.v. but in reality are the cause of a whole host of problems... no one has provided the solution to these things, but there are people who have said interesting things that should be tumbled around in your head for a while.

Zeitgiest is something that you should play with for a while, think it over, see what sorts of things are out there confirming what Zeitgiest is saying, do your own research and then change your beliefs to something different.

you really believe that money, government and religion are things used to "control" people and cause only problems? have you no idea of the shitty world we would be living in if there was no government or monetary system in place? it would be chaos. i dont expect you to grasp this thought because your post shows of the ignorance you have that apparently only a shotty online video could change otherwise. let me ask whats so bad about religion? yes people are killed over it but the countless lives that have been turned onto a better road greatly out weigh the former. kid there are no solutions because what is holding our world together is not problems. oh and you contradicted yourself thus proving the person's post you tried to argue, good job.

i said that religion, money and government are human constructs and that they all have inherent problems.

you are very entrenched in the belief that the white western civilization is the "best" way of living. It is completely possible to have a simplistic life style without money, or government. it wouldn't be anything like the globalized societies of today, but you cannot pass judgement on saying that "this government" and "our money system" is beyond a doubt the BEST way of doing things.

You do not NEED religion to be "turned onto a better road" it is perfectly possible to be a moral individual without following any particular scripture. Religion changes, for people, the definition of good. It is easy for religious faith, even if it is irrational in itself, to lead a sane and decent person, by rational, logical steps, to do terrible things.. There is a logical path from religious faith to evil deeds. There is no logical path from atheism to evil deeds. Of course, many evil deeds are done by individuals who happen to be atheists. But it can never be rational to say that, because of my nonbelief in religion, it would be good to be cruel, to murder, to oppress women.

And in the words of Steven Weinberg "With or without [religion] you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion.”

Ironically you are the one who sounds ignorant, and i didn't see where i contradicted my self. I said that if something is thought provoking, you should think about it, go do your own investigations, and then after deliberating on whatever new evidence has been brought to light, reformulate whatever views you might have.... it is quite possible that he'd come to the same conclusion, but this is much different than not going through this process at all.

Please if you wish to defend religion, do not defend your religion, defend the taliban, defend their bullying of women, their sanctimonious hatred of all that might lead to enjoyment, their violence, their ignorant bigotry, and their hatred of education.

if you wish to defend wester civilization, tell me how human caused polution, mass extinction, modern warfare, massive gaps between rich and poor, are all justifyably "good" things that are saving us from a "shitty existance" and how much worse off we'd be if we didn't have these byproducts of modern civilization.

you tried to argue too, but not very hard.

Great post. Honestly, sometimes I wish I lived that kind of simplistic lifestyle after looking at how badly we rape the earth just to support our modern lifestyles.

Although you all seem to be enjoying the religion aspect of Zeitgeist I have another good video to watch that deals with the whole 9/11 ordeal.

Goes by the name of Loose Change and is in eight parts on YouTube.com (90ish minutes total)

Here is the first part:

Enjoy and THINK!
