YVR Police Taser

Now that the video has been released to the public ( http://www.cbc.ca/mrl3/8752/bc/ondemand/video/YVRTASERVIDEO.wmv ) and there is no question in my mind that the RCMP acted improperly. Whether their actions were a result of improper training or a premeditated decision to taser, the video is a testament to their a flawed decision system. Furthermore, RCMP on the record dismissed initial witness accounts and portrayed the event much diffrently. This attests to a willingness of the police to LIE to protect themselves. This places into question all RCMP actions under questionable circumstances, including the shooting death on Granville recently. In effect, this video shows that:

1 - RCMP have an ineffective decision system that results in DEATH of innocent people

2 - RCMP are willing to LIE to cover their ass

3 - RCMP cannot be trusted to investigate themselves

4 - RCMP past actions and statements are now suspect

I'm definitely going to have to jump on the poor man's side. I was slightly skeptical until now, but fuck! This video may not be graphic, but it sure is shocking.

Has anybody seen the movie "The terminal" with tom hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones. This seriously reminds me of exactly the same situation, and the guy did not get fucking tazered. At NO POINT did anyone tried offering help, getting a translator. The dude was freaking out, ok, he was not a muderer.

I hope this stirs some real shit up. So sorry for his mother's loss.

I'm sure that if you'd never been out of rural Poland for your entire life and found yourself somewhere where nobody speaks your first language, you'd also wonder what the fuck to do. Especially after 6 hours.

wow thats fuckin harsh, fuckin guy doesnt know a word of english how the hell is he spossed to know wat the cops r saying fuck they should ahve just waited until they had an interpretator there to calm the man down but instead they killed him, good thing the cops never pull stunts like this.....oh wait its the opposite

That just makes me mad. Cops these days, just a bunch of trigger happy impatient morons.

Yes I know I'm steriotyping, but I know a guy who wants to be a cop (went through all the training) just to have the gun. These instances aren't just a couple random situations. Police are fucking up, that's all there is to it.

That was fucking brutal. The guy posed no real threat besides tossing a computer or two, but that was before the cops showed up. They pretty much just walked in and tasered him, even after hearing that he only spoke russian. Even though that wasn't true, if a russian interpreter was there they would probably be able to figure out it was polish instead. I had a totally different idea of what went down. Sue the fuck out of those cops as well as charging them.

Man that shit sickens me, maybe the cops thought that they were following procedure.... I dunno.... The thing that really pisses me off is the fact they zap him rather than tryin to resolve the issue, get someone at the airport that understands him, you go to england or any international airport and they have people that can do such a thing. Secondly they sit around and realize he's out and not breathing, but they just sit there like a bunch of morons poking and prodding at him.

I was sceptical, but after seeing that... man it honestly makes me fearful to get into any altercation with any law enforcement officer.

I really hope these individuals of law face serious serious consequences. it just aint right when they bust in acting like typical law enforcement these days, acting like bouncers, acting like idiots... shoot first, ask questions after.

that just sickens me.... period.

WOW. unbelievable.

this better not get brushed aside like so many other rcmp atrocities. people are quick to debate corrupt authorities in other countries but how does it look when somewhere like canada let's those in power get away with pretty much anything? (this is not the first time something like this has happened). our country is in no way immune to power-tripping, under-trained cops like those morons at YVR.

I was never skeptical about the situation. This doesn't surprise me in any way, it just confirms my suspicions. Whats wrong with handcuffs?

I can't figure out why they tasered him the first time when he was just talking and they were surrounding him. What did he do that was threatening? You can't really see because the video is taken from behind him but it just looks like he's talking.

Keep in mind that everyone still has a "911" attiude towards these situations. I'm not defending anyone here, but imagine if the man had actually been a threat and had caused injuries to others. How mad do you think the public would be, how much the authorities would be criticized. These men were acting on in the extreme of "take no chances" and because of it, someone was killed.

Yeah but he didn't pull a knife on them. There were four of them, they aren't small guys, and he's some tired, angry polish guy. They couldn't have calmed him down or restrained him WITHOUT the taser? I mean if he was attacking them or brandishing some weapon I could see it... but he appeared to be speaking a foreign language. That does not seem... particularly threatening to me.

I'm all for police being given the room they need to do their job without worrying about what the papers will say later... but there's a line. I mean come on. If you need to have 2 cops restrain him and a third handcuff him, go for it. But zapping him in that situation is just unnecessary.

my friend whos polish said the when the police arrived the man ssiad good police are here maby they can help me, and then he did nothing and theytazered him it pisses me off.....the guy did nothing at all worng
