I'd say it was various things that contributed a fall like this. First of all, the jump is definitely too big. That''s why he popped up instead of out causing him to land on part of the flat. The lip should be smaller and a few inches forward so he lands on the down part. One of the biggest problems was that he was leaning forward instead of digging his right edge and leaning back a little.
