Youriding UPDATE !!

"its based on shredsauce, like how you can plug your controllers into the pc and play"

jesus fucking christ are people that stupid

hmm I wonder why all of these games are now finaly comming out.... Game makers always half assed their ski games or ignored us but now malcolm puts out shredsauce and suddenly the world of gaming cares about us?

Fuck them, I cant beleive these guys have ignored our input for years and now they want to listen to us. For years we have been reaching out to them, telling them we want realism, we want a real game not a shitty arcade style. they didnt listen, they didnt think we were important enough I guess.

Now that malcolm does exactly what we have been asking for all along for free, out of his basement, suddenly they love us and want to hear from us. They are jealous and want to get a piece of the action!

They act all big with their game right now even though they havnt put forth any new concept. They use the same engine as shredsauce, same controllers, same gameplay. Its straight coppying from shredsauce, I would be supprised to see the controlls outlined in the same way.

I for one am turning my back to them like they always have with the skiing comunity.

bahahaha, youriding has been along a lot longer than shredsauce man. They're an actual studio, who's last game was pretty decent, although the controls were a little rough to get into. You could definitely see they have a lot of potential. Not to mention you can actually crash in their game and it actually had something other than shitty programmer art in it.

yes I know they have been here, I know what they have and how good they are. My issue with them in particular is that they have been shown to threads where the community was explicitly asking for realistic gameplay, removing themselves from arcade style. a game like skate to make it brief. They have been arround for year but never listened to us. now that malcolm puts out his game, they listen.

They are opportunists!

You have any idea how hard it is to iterate on a game and tune it to be more realistic? Or redo the controls entirely? Stuff doesn't happen overnight man, it takes a lot of time and effort to get things to work properly. Cut em some slack. Wait for their next version before you complain about how they don't listen to you.

Sure it takes 5 min to write a post and say "give us controls like skate!"... but in reality it takes months of time to implement something like that and tune it to perfection. Game development isn't remotely close to as easy as people think it is.

And not to hate on Malcom, but come on man, that isn't even close to a full game. It has no art, the most basic of physics, no animations, and you can't even crash. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to copy that.

Yes I know what goes into making a game, I was a tester for malcolm before he released the game. I know exactly the ammount of time and effort taken to put a game out.

The thing with yourriding is that its been years now that we told them to change shit up and they never did, im not talking about a few months and I think its slow, litterally years of not listening to the comunity. Then malcolm puts out his game and suddenly they care. How can you not see that.

I agree with what your saying about shredsauce but heres the thing about this game and malcolms awsome attitude. The game is not complete yet, far from it, but hes awsome enough to let everyone play it for free as he developpes it. This way he actualy gets feedback from players and real critiques. Of course the game isnt the prettyest right now, its not done!

"Yes I know what goes into making a game, I was a tester for malcolm before he released the game. I know exactly the ammount of time and effort taken to put a game out. "

- ...don't say things like this, you lose all of your cred. I now know you're completely out of your league.

"... Then malcolm puts out his game and suddenly they care. How can you not see that. "

- FYI, decisions like these at studios (both large and small) don't just happen overnight. This new project of theirs has been in the works for a long time before shred sauce even showed up on the web, I can guarantee you that.

Sorry, not trying to be combative here, just trying to shed a little light into the game industry for those of you unfamiliar. I get so frustrated when people make these stupid generalizations about an industry they know nothing about. Then again it's the internet, so why would I expect something else.

I'm done here, but happy to answer any games industry questions for y'all if you're ever interested.

Hey guys!

please let me join the conversation as you're talking about YouRiding.

@MatRich: yes we received many suggestions from the community to improve our games. And we did all we could with the Flash technology. We reviewed the gameplay to make it easier to play and we added many slopes and changed a few other things. But we were kind of stuck with this technology and not able to answer all the requests...

Then Unity3d came out so we decided to update our surfing and bodyboarding games with the goal to launch them in Sept 2011 then work on the winter games in order to have them ready in Jan 2012. Unfortunately we were late so we decided to postpone the winter games for 2012 / 2013.

So as @NowBetterTasting was saying, you don't decide to create a game like this in one night, especially when you're a small company. It's a huge investment for us!!

We have 2 people working full time on a custom physics engine since 3 months. Yes, we're using Unity3d which is the same core engine that Shredsauce, but we are building our own physics engine to make it much more realistic. And I can guarantee you that it takes time but the results are pretty awesome!

And now that our physics engine is almost done we're working like crazy on the gameplay, character animations, game design, level design, sounds and everything else.

I think Malcolm did an awesome job and it reminds me a few years ago when we launched our surfing game. Even if the physics or graphics were not as good as a console game, it is fun to play because it is realistic and core. And that's what we're looking for.

We really want to stay as core as possible so we're asking you guys what kind of features are important to you, what would you like? You want butters? We're already working on it...

I believe we have the right team and the experience to do something great but it'll be really perfect for you guys if you tell us how you want it.

that looks sick, im excited for it and super happy that the videogame industry is getting caught up with freestyle skiing snowboarding etc...
