YOU'RE FIRED IDIOT!

why can't people just have the same level of expectations and achievement in the workplace?

i had to fire this girl today. she seemed so confused and pissed off even though she had all the reason to. why do people think they piss liquid gold and rock at everything they do when they CLEARLY don;t?!

firing people is tough. sometimes you have no choice since you cant immediately replace them and dealing with their shitty attitudes is worse than being short staffed. i hate people that feel that they are entitled though. that alone should be grounds enough to fire someone.

seriously. she wasn't that bad of a worker- good customer service, followed directions when it came to tasks.

but she broke the rules and tried to test all of her managers to see exactly what she could get away with. i shouldn't have to tell you more than once when you break a rule, don't do it again. that doesnt mean WHEN YOU ARE WORKING WITH ME. that means period. she seriously was just some rich girl who cared more about herself than our company

details? some people just think they can manipulate everything in their favor their whole lives, annoying trait...

interviewed her- excellent candidate. very competent and intelligent...

she starts working- she has special requests. she doesnt want to work weekends. SHE JUST STARTED and said, "so i need all of my hours during the week because i dont want to work weekends."

my response was, "do you even want to work here?"

and i tried explaining that its a small business and we have to work around EVERYONE'S school schedules so you get the hours that are given to you and you're more than welcome to ask for certain days off here and there. we have 4 employees at her level... if we had more nobody would get good hours. but if we had any less we wouldn't have any coverage. she said she understood. she obviously didnt or was just irritated that she didnt get what she wanted.

employee guidelines state NO USAGE OF CELLPHONES WHILE WORKING except breaks. caught her on her phone twice, reprimanded her and she said she understood, it wouldn't happen again.

it happened again when she was working with two other keyholders (below me, above her) so they are her boss as well. i wrote her up. she seemed confused. her friends came in and she wouldnt leave them alone, keyholder asked her to tell them to leave because the store was packed and she wasnt doing her job. she said they are waiting for me to go on my break. breaks are allowed when a keyholder decides the store is empty enough to be handled by one person. that was not going to be for a looong time.

eventually she went on her break and propped the back door open. she ended her break and left the back door propped open. our safe is in the backroom. our backdoor remains locked at ALL TIMES and she just left it open for anyone to waltz right in. she lied about being late. she said she walked when her car was outside. she just wants what she wants and if she doesnt get it "its not fair"

when she did something wrong she would ask, "are you mad?"

so annoying.

ugh. i hate when people take a late break. i sent two people on break at the same time since they were friends and i had the staff/time to permit that. i try to take peoples needs and requests into consideration. sent them both on break at the same time and they never came back. circumstances didnt permit me to fire them both, but i was so short staffed i had to jump in and do their jobs while neglecting my other team members, who then got pissed because they didnt get breaks on time. long story short, do your job well and you make everyone happy. people will say one thing to get hired, since i thought they were both excellent employees prior, then once they get the job they stop caring and feel like since they are hired they can get away with anything.

yeah it's ridiculous. the owners called her princess because that's exactly what she acted like. seriously, this is my first job and i already run the bitch. i don;t understand why other people don't have the same perception of what's acceptable and what's not. it's common sense.

haha some people just dont understand how to be an employee.. we have this friend who will be like, dude my boss is all mad just cause i didnt come into work on labor day.. and we have to be like dude..id fire you

Isn't it interesting how people view work? Give that girl a few weeks in an impoverished country where she has to walk three hours just to get an armful of firewood to stay warm and maybe she would become a star employee. And, maybe not even then.

I was a manager at a restaurant for a couple of years, and it was unbelievable to me what some people expected. I did literally laugh out loud at the "I don't want to work weekends" part. Brought back some memories. That is when you should have let her go right then. A retail store and she doesn't want to work weekends? So funny. We wouldn't even consider someone unless they said they would work weekends, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve. Yeah.

that's exactly it! i'm new to the whole hire/fire and i want to see the best in people. her availability was 100% perfect during her interview. application was excellent, very competent young lady. two weeks into the job she mentioned, "so since i'm available during the week in the mornings, you guys can just give me all of my hours then because i don't want to work weekends." she is just so self centered. i mean, yes: it's a good trait to make sure that YOU are satisfied. but COME ON that's just selfish. you're working a starter job to test the waters of employment and that's the way you do it?

no. i just always grew up with the idea thinking that you had to give your best. you had to do what you were told and you listened to authority. sure, i gave my parents hell sometimes but they are my parents and that's understandable. employers? no way. they are the people who write me a paycheck every two weeks. if i let them down i don't get paid. i don't even need the money so much... it's just something you have to do if you want to keep your job.

i always want to validate people. i want to say, "well maybe they are this way because of ____ reason." when really there are a lot of people that are just fucking stupid and for whatever reason i will never know!
