Your worst experience on the mountain.

What is your worst experience skiing?

there have been lots of threads about the best pow days, but what about the shittiest days? lets hear some stories!

overshot a 90 foot jump while over rotating a dun cork 12 to my face. my brain was bleeding and I hardly remember any of the day... pretty shitty

Somehow almost got raped by my Salomon bindings, which had no cover on (sharp as hell). Couple inches the other way and I'd be singing in falsetto.

this one time i was skiing and then this pedophile slipped me roofies and then pulled me into the bushes and raped me. worst day ever.

Went off this natural berm out in the pow.. on the other side of the berm was a deep hole into like a cave almost.. waist deep pow and lost my skis and had to dig an hour to get out :(

probably being tuck out of bounds at wildcat for around 4 hours, and having to basically traverse down a riverbed. AND miss an epic day of pow skiing :(

I was pretty sick, but we ended up getting a snow day and I was feeling ok, so I went snowboarding with my friends (yes I snowboarded at the time), and about halfway through the day I felt so sick I could barely move. I had my mom come pick me up from the hill and I was so dehydrated my vision started blurring and I was seeing weird things. When I got home my temp was close to 105. It was by far the worst I have ever felt. I ended up missing the next 4 or 5 days of school.

my friend flipped his car onto the passenger side (where I was) on an epic spring pow day on the way up. I was pissed and got glass in my arm and didn't get to shred pow.. we were about 10 minutes away too. awful.

Decided to try and do a little late season skiing with my 2 friends Dave and Schoepf (twinjibber77 & The_Rook). Drove an hour and a half to holiday valley, only to find that it was open for 40 MORE MINUTES. Me and dave had seasons passes and Schoepf only had to pay like 6 bucks. So we get on the slopes with about a half hour to ski and it's the downright worst skiing ever...skiing through puddles and dirt. Get back inside the lodge at 7:00 (closing time) and everyone is leaving and we're just chillin', till basically everyone is gone. Time to leave (around 7:15), so we go back to the car with all of our stuff. But Schoepf aka The_Rook lost his keys. At this point we figured he might've just lost them on the 2 minute trip from the lodge to the car, but after searching for 20 minutes in that area, they were nowhere to be found, and it was getting darker. Schoepf then decided to go search the bottom of the ski mountain, in the dark. Nobody was around. After an hour of searching, no luck. We found a guy sitting in the lodge who was a manager or something and he couldn't help, and he told us to go to the hotel lost and found, and no luck. So now it's like 9:15 and we are stranded in a dark parking lot, so we called up AAA (Triple A). They told us that it would cost $100 FOR A LOCKSMITH TO COME DELIVER A KEY, AND IT WOULD BE AN HOUR WAIT! So schoepf says screw that, and we call up our friend Lucas from college (who drove all day) to come drive 3 more hours total to deliver Schoepf's spare key from his dorm room for 60 dollars. It was quite the day, the end.

A few years ago at Okemo, I got my pass pulled for riding switch in a "slow zone" which apparently also meant "ski forward zone"

We got to 7 springs right after the best snow storm of the year where we got almost 3 feet of snow overnight. I skied all morning in pow and came in for lunch. I separated my skis far apart and everything and i went back out and someone jacked ONE of them. They were line chronics....not exactly typical looking graphics. I went into willis where i know the manager and he let me use one demo ski for the rest of the season so it wasnt the end of the world i guess...still never got my one ski back though.

I have had a similar experience, not fun. It was blowing so hard you could barely see the chairs coming the other way and then we stopped for wind for a good 20-30 minutes but it felt like days.

I was on vacation at Whiteface and went to drop my sister off at ski school. I came back and someone had stolen my shitty K2 poles in the 5 minutes I was gone.

That night after skiing I came in and my hip started hurting and soon I found out that I had also torn my left hip-flexor off the bone. FFFFUUUUUUUUUU

First day back form injury of shattered arm. Vail colorado. way back off the backside. my tib fib fucken exploded while i was skiing. took 4 hourse of trying to get off the mountain. Shit load of percaset and a bucket of candy was all i did for 2 weeks looking out at the beautful mountains of CO. FML

nutted myself on a down rail.

undershot and knuckled a 30 ft jump

on an aframe went face first into the rail and bit through my tounge lost two teeth.

I took the last jump in Pick 'n Shovel at PCMR to the end of the landing where it planes out. Basically a 40ft gap to flat. My shins were on fire but I rode away all safe.

one time i was pissing in the woods and shat my pants a little bit

when i was learning to hit rails i fell backwards and cracked a rib, winded me for like 5 mins

i lost my balance hitting a jump on a snowboard and landed on my neck

4 years ago i was a gaper. I was a 13 year old who had just got his first twin tips and had never been in the park. After a few runs i felt that i could pull off a 360. So i did tried it and overshot it, then i landed on my really tall poles and broke my wrist. and it was early in the season

Got up to the mountain late, I was chillin waiting for some friends and decided to hike a rail. So about 5 minutes into the sesh some gaper dude and his kid side jumped the lip of the rail and almost crashed into me. He was fine and his kid was ok. But I asked if he was ok just cause I thought hey we were all gapers once and I didn't want any trouble. Next thing I know this guy is trying to rip me a new asshole, yelling his fucking ass off. He told me that the mountain was for going down the hill not up it. I was pissed we exchanged some nasty words and he left. Later ski patrol roles up and asked what the commotion was about. Long story short almost got my pass pulled.bullshit

where to start..... cork three and concussion,,,, bloody nose as fuck. locked my key in the trunk and then i took a knife to the ski sock in the audi and got my keys.. all concussed i go down west leg road hauling ass and hit another car comming up... LAME... she tryed to sue me 3 years later and she lost. Bitch

back in my snowblade days at mt hood medows. mw and buddy are pissing in th woods. we pop out and are just carving it up. and next thing i know 4 speed nazis are on us like.. we got them got them right here.. and go on to tell us that we are intemadading the more novice riders and to stop turing so much.... no joke

chair rollback at skibowl.. like it went back 15 feet and the dog break stopped it.. fucking scary shit.

not me, but a good friend of mine and his group of buddies came across a kid that fell into a tree well up at schweitzer, unfortunately he had already passed. it was a sad day.

Tree Wells are so dangerous.

My worse day has to be waking up on the last day out in Tahoe, and after a week of crunchy snow to see a nice little snow shower. When we got to the mountain though it was raining, starts pouring while I'm on the chair. I took one run that was so slow and my clothes were soaked.

5th day of the season, it was a pow day so I skipped last block of school so I could get up to the mountain and shred while it was still daylight. Like I said it was early season so not much was open, but my friends and I were of course ducking ropes all day because the unopened runs were not tracked out. I had the most fun run of my life, skiing pillow lines that would soon be snowed in and not been seen till next season. Right near the end of it I stomped a solid 15 foot cliff to a pretty flat landing. Skiing out back to the chair it maybe 200 meters down the run it got to be pretty bad flat light so I didn't notice a creak bed (this was probably why this run was not open) till the last second, I tried to hop it but pretty much stomped into the other side right underfoot.

The impact knocked my ski off and when I was trying to put it back on, and couldn't push down on my foot without terrible pain I figured something might be wrong. First I tried to walk it off but that didn't exactly work as I couldn't walk. So I got my buddy to help me get to the bottom of the lift and call ski patrol. The first thing the patroller did was give me this option: pull my boot off now or cut it off at the hospital. Obviously I chose the first option. As soon as my boot was off my foot all the blood rushed back and I was in the most pain I'd ever been in. So much so that I couldn't even pull my sock off. My foot/ankle also swelled to the size of a watermelon, the thing was huge.

The final result, my heel bone was broken into 3 pieces along with the bottom of my tibia having a fracture, and 1 other bone in my foot being fractured. Compressed it real good.

Oh and I was on crutches for 10 weeks after that, missed 12 weeks of skiing, but I couldn't do anything but cruise for 2 weeks once I got on skis, and I couldn't jump for 6 weeks from the day I was on skis.

After a great morning in the park, we went to the chalet for lunch, dumped my helmet and stuff down at a table and went to go buy lunch. When i came back, someone had stolen my jacket. After running around checking under tables, asking people, going to the lost and found, i just gave up. It was frickin cold that day too.

my experience: broke 2 vertebras on an overshoot, then had to drive 2 hours home.
worst experience: guy casing a 60 footer hitting his face on the snow biting his tongue off.

at hunter mountain my first day back on the slopes last season

I was sooo stoked, on the first run of the day the lift broke and we got stuck in the 5 or 10 degree weather for 2 hours.

At telluride last season, under-rotated an underflip/japan grab in the park. Landed on my left side of my body. separated my collarbone from my shoulder, cracked my sternum, bruised from hip down, and cracked my brand new smith maze helmet. Always rock a helmet in the park! Shitty part was, I paid for a four day lift ticket! So I sucked it up took 1500mgs of tylenol, drank, and ski'd the rest of the week. Probably not my worst story but its the only one I could think of.

i was running a super g back in 2005 and slid out on an extra icy east coast rutted out turn and double ejected. Then kept sliding right into a tree. Broke my helmet, was bleeding from my brain. sprained my neck bad enough to have to wear a brace for like 3 months. and still have to go to the chiropractor to this day for the back damage it did to me.

last winter we got the biggest storm of the year- it snowed about 2.5 ftso i went up the next day expecting amazing pow, but when we get there there's an inch of ice on top. apparently it rained right after it snowed so the conditions blew. even the groomers were terrible

I just got off a long day of work and was super stoked to ski so first hit I did a back flip but I didn't know they had shaved the lip and I underotated and ended up breaking the base of my thumb. I got surgery and had three pins put in and then a cast for 8 weeks. Thankfully I only missed 6 days of skiing.

Kid cut me off, went flying off a cliff and landed on ice. Fractured two of my vertebrae and cracked 4 ribs. The worst part was that it was the first day of a 6 day long ski trip. Fuck that kid

whats shitty is that you can do absolutely nothing in these situations.. One time our chair was a foot away from the top, and after 30 min my dad tried being cool and jumping the gap, only to miss it and fall to the ground.
