Your theorys on space and infinity

actually, you would see nothing, since light hasn't reached there yet.

and never mind scientists think that it's impossible to go faster than the speed of light, eh, sheldon?

that's tough to say. I think you would actually be to look back. Think of it like this, when you are in the light and you look in to a pitch black room, you see nothing. But when you are in the pitch black room and you look out into the light, you see it all, it would be like that. But i'm not completely sure, you might not be able to see back like you said... it's tought to think like that.

you would ahve to get so far ahead of light to be able to stop and be able to think it through what it is you are looking at. but no light: you see nothing, at least not with our eyes. and if no light has reached it, you won't see a thing.

Our main building block is Carbon. But, I do agree with how small we are in the whole scheme of things. Anyone whos says that there is no other life forms out in space is ignorant. As far as the facts go the universe is endless...The way I think of the parameters of the universe can be described by dropping a stone into water. It ripples out from the center forever, until something if signifcant size stops it. I am fascinating by space but ,really, it has no significance on me. I think that we should get rid of NASA completely and put that money into more important things...ON OUR OWN PLANET! NASA's budget average per year over the last 10 years has been 13 billion, and what have they found? Things that do not help us at all. Imagine if they took that money and put it towards ending homelessness and poverty, building better schools , or maybe even developing a more energy efficent car to help save the plantet.

...and then you'd get to a point where the light hasn't reached yet...ie there is no light there yet, then the light get's there genius

hahahahahahahah you tried to prove wrong my extremely hypothetical question that was more of a joke than anything else...a joke like biblical creationism

I find it hard to believe that this is "it" I haven't even been to the grand canyon so we haven't in any way touched the vastness of the universe. go lift a rock in the middle of the woods and look at all the shit that scurries. that is pretty much us in the scheme of things. SO it has been said So shall it be done

actually we're mostly made of carbon, not hydrogen and helium.

second, thank you for making us all feel like shit

we dont know that for sure. after all, how do you think everything that exists got here? it had to have been created at some point. matter not being created or destroyed is a law here on here on earth thought up by some very smart people. but you are going to have to go beyond that and get out of your everyday mind set if you wont to try and understand the universe. this includes accepting the possibility that matter can be created on the outer limits of our universe.

actually mass and energy reacting together to form matter.

and sheldon, kisses mate. not my fault you're illogical and have to explain yourself further. try having some body to what you say, that could help. and some intelligence. have fun! :D

Oh man, this thread just helped me out alot on my seminar about the book Paradise Lost. My theory is that all the matter was just here and always has been. Second, I think it changes form in a cycle, and just expands and contracts, creates and destroys worlds, ect. This would of course be a really deterministicand lame theory, but it's just for fun so whatever.

oh man, I always think about this shit!

I was initially gonna post that nothing can be infinite and must, therefore, be finite. Basically because if things were infinite where would we fit them all? unless space was infinite, but scientists say that space ends at the edge of the universe but then what happens if you cross that line.

Time might also be an exception. When did time start? Did it ever start?

Frig, I've got to be careful. My doctor told me not to think too hard cuz I might hurt myself.

damn this is so scray. when you thinkabout it space is massive, and earth is the tinyest thing ever. also humans are pretty dumb for not discovering anything that important yet cause instead we spend billions of dollars on nasa and the u.s.

i have a question..

how did you get a 3 where the l was supposed to be? thats on the other side of the keyboard

Wouldn't spending billions of dollars on nasa which explores space be a good idea if you are tying to study space?

shit i like what someone said about watching the big bang. DANG! has anyone read Brief history of Time or Dancing Wu Li Masters. Man those books are good. i think about infinity all the time it is kinda scary like it just keeps going no start no stop. as for the universe i think that it is infinite and the stuff inside of it is just expanding. BUT if we live in a finite universe we are screwed because with the big bang comes the big crunch. owch. anyways the universe will not end in any of our liftimes so keep pondering lifes mysteries.

basically the people that think that this is it, nothing else out there, must of been pissed when someone told them "no earth is round"

Stephen Hawkins helped me with this a lot but my yearlong binge on shrooms probally helped me more, so here it is: we live in one universe not the only universe, andyes our universe is infinate but exists simontenously with other universes wich are actually different dimessions that exist all around us, these other universes are conected by wormholes black holes, possibly death and other things. these alternate universes are in my mind atoms or molecules that make up the body of a much larger being God? which lives in another much largeruniverse (to are scale) another thing with wromholes and such are basically shortcuts through space instead of going 2 point 1,2,3,4,5, to end at point 6 a wormhole would take u to point 1 to 6 instentously these wormholes r basically rips in the fabric of time space so basically our universe is infinate (if u can comprehend that) but other universes also infinate exist but in different dimensions then when u think about light, light doesn't age as it travels so light from point a to point b takes no time at all in the eyes of the light, which leads to the idea that if time stops at the speed of light what happens after the speed of light. I have a trip notebook with much of this shit written down/explained in much more detail including diagrams and such but this is sum of the basics i have come up with

Man it's fucked. It's obvious that there's some other life. It would be VERY arrogant to think that there isn't. Who knows how long humanity will survive. Who knows if it will be destroyed then created again in a slight version. Who knows if we will evolve into some superpowerful force that can travel these speeds to reach other planets. No one is to say. Hundreds of years ago the world WAS flat (not really but everyone thought so). I mean our vast knowledge has just taken off like a god damn rocket. The technology boom is incredible. Who's to say in a thousand years we won't have traveled to another universe.

What really gets me is the ending. I mean we think of a wall ending space, but in relativity to our own lives there's always something on the other side of the wall. That's what seperates the pioneers from the followers. The pioneers find a way to get by that wall and the followers take life the way it's handed to them. So there is no true answer to what can be said about space. This is just a topic that may forever be discussed or one day figured out.
