Your recommendations on bindings for Lizzies

just got some Line Elizabeths and am looking for binding recommendations. Info:5'8"~150 pounds12 Din'erType III skier, mostly all mountain, in the trees, love to duck off trails into bowls. i do some park, not a whole lot though (maybe 10-15% of the time), mostly just off-piste stuff. Ski at Mt Hood Meadows, hit the wasatch a couple times a year.
i've read that the griffons are recommended for Line skis, anyone else have recommendations for me? thanks a bunch in advance.

im 5'8 115 and i put head mojo 15's on my lizzies for this season. i didnt really have that much of a choice though, got a good deal on them, i really dont need a 15 din binding. for you, i got no idea. a friend of mine is more around your weight and had px12's on his lizzies, i dont think he had any complaints.

i have jesters on mine.. i dont need 16 din, i just dont trust the plastic griffon heel..

I have griffons on mine. It is virtually impossible to pop out of the heel because the skis are so soft. They scare me sometimes.

thanks for the input guys, ill take a look into each and see what works best for me.
what's everyones thoughts on mounting for these skis? right now im thinking +2 since ill be riding all over the mountain instead of just mainly park.

+2 is recommended so it will most likely be great. I have mine 1 cm ahead of recommended. That works for park, groomers and pow just fine but I think +2 is just as good if not even better.

Are you serious? You are telling me that it is easier to pop out of a softer ski than a stiff ski? Lizzies are so flexy, that no matter how much pressure you put leaning forward, it is virtually impossible to pop out of the heels. Have you ever seen someone on stiff skis go to do a tip stand and double eject? Try in on lizzes, you are not coming out, you will just fall over forward because the ski is so soft. If you land extremely nose heavy on lizzes, they will just wash out and you will most likely be fine, where as if you land extremely nose heavy on a stiff pair of skis, you are going to eject because the ski is resisting the pressure, not giving out under it.

makes sense.
for the record i got Head Mojo 15's mounted on the lizzies. i've only been able to ride 1 time this year, but so far i love them. cant wait to get some more turns on them.

i mounted them 1.5 cm forward of rec, i do mostly all mountain/pow skiing and a little park so i didnt see the need to mount closer to true center. the difference between rec and true center is 3.5 cm. i had a lot of fun on them the first day, cant wait to get used to them even more. lots of fresh snow in the forecast for mt hood this weekend as well, hoping saturday is a great day.

Recommended is -2.

Mine are at true centre. I've had 2 pairs, one of which was at recommended and the other at true. Moving to true centre only makes a noticeable difference in the deep stuff, the tips do dive more. They still carve great at true.

i had jesters on them at recommended

then traded those jesters away on another pair of skis and put my brand new 40 dolla fks 120's on them at true center (after having the shop mount them 5cm infront of true O:< ) and rode them for the first time in like 6 months on tuesday

center is better for park skiing/groomers, which is what i use them for, i would never choosingly ski pow on them at 6'3" even tho i have before and it wasnt bad, but now especially not at center

so basically saprknotes

fks 120's....

Choose a binding where your DIN is in the middle or close to the middle of its scale. I would say that anything with a 12 max din would be fine. I'm 5'8, 130lbs, and an expert skier (so were pretty close in size, your just heavier than me by like 20lbs) and my DIN is a 6, i'm riding on Rossi PX10's 3-10DIN. Your proper DIN setting is probably going to be around an 8. So unless you want to up your DIN, STH12's, PX12's, or griffons would all be good choices.

sorry, i was thinking core center. i mounted them at recommended which was -2 from true center, +1.5 from core center.
i always get the three screwed up in my mind.

i know, i looked at your profile o_O

center mounted skis

i have a plethora of other ones to do various tasks

Tip stands and nose heavy landings are not pre-release... That is an issue of Torque forces, and involves concepts and math I would rather not try to explain. To put it simply, in a tip stand, or nose heavy landing, a stiff ski is producing a much higher force at the binding, causing it to release. BUT it is still releasing at the intended force value. That is not a pre-release.

PRE-RELEASE: is when the binding is functioning normally, and yet due to conditions caused by the ski/skier, releases the boot at a LOWER FORCE than is ordinarily required.

The main cause of pre-release is flexion/deflexion of the ski, such that the forward pressure of the binding is compromised, and the binding fails to operate as intended, releasing the boot at a lower force than normal. This happens much easier in a softer ski, simply because the ski flexes so much that the distance between heel and toe of the binding changes enough to affect the forward pressure, and therefore the performance of the release mechanism of the binding.

By the way... I own lizzies, I ski them often, and I can tell you with great certainty, that at the same DIN value; my Lizzies and EPs prerelease far more often than my Silencers, JP vs Julians, and much more than my Chopsticks ever did. And what do you know?! they are really soft compared to the others.

To Sum Up: Fatter, softer skis prerelease more than stiffer, narrower skis...

Oh, btw. I have Mojo15s on my lizzies now, but I skied PX and FKS series on them before, and I would recommend going with the FKS. The rossi bindings have more elastic travel in the heel piece, and in my opinion, better heel retension to begin with, and in my experience, on the lizzies, I had fewest prerelease issues with the FKS bindings, which were also light, and have the shortest mounting pattern of the three, so the flex was better. Marker Royal family clamps might work fine too, but I am a fan of metal.

I too have the 07-08 Lizzies (2nd pair (booyah)) at centre aaannndd I live in the same country as you :)

Haha sorry B-runge, I challenge you for your girl !
