your progression

I was just wonderin'. what trix did u all learn yer very first year of freeskiing? like say, yer first 40 days in the park. and also, I've been hearing people say that like on there first year they could just do 3's and then on there second year they could like pull 9s. is the first year really that hard? and then after that stuff comes easier and more naturally?

yay 4 skiing

in only i werent god, and didnt already know how to do every trick

i learned up to 540 and some grabs and a bit of rail sliding and then turned my focus to big mountian and bc booters and plan on progressing into more inverts next year

getting the 3 is the hardest to learn. once you are comfy with 3's, you can step up to 5 pretty easy. You want to be on the tramp a lot to get comfy in the air, and to practice spinning. Get 7 and 9 on the tramp, then take it to snow. 5 to 7 was a little harder, and 7 to 9 was pretty easy. You just gotta stay committed and practice on the tramp a lot.

good luck!

Somtimes I just like to sit back and allow all the ignorant people in this world easily ammuse me. Other times they just piss me off.

there was a thread on this a while back. Different people progress at different speeds, don't be worried about other people. just concentrate on where you are at and where you want to be.

Alot of people who say they could pull 720's their first year, probably had skills they transferred.

They may have been good at trampolean before, good at fruitboots, good at snollerblades, whatever.

Once you've gotten the feel for skiing its not real hard to transfer your other skills to it. If you do not have experience in other areas then chances are it may take you a little longer to catch it. But once you've got air sense and you've got the basics, it will come.

This year I went from throwing sketchy 360's off small jumps to rocking 900's grabs, rodeo 5's, lincolns, whatever.

Just work on the basics and it will come, and don't be concerned about other people.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

Or some people can transfer skill from skiing itself. like say they were racers before or have been skiing for years. They already know the basics of skiing, the gap they need to fill now is the jumping part

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

Last winter, my first winter, I learned switch 540 as best. This year, my second winter ive learned to throw rodeo 7 with grabs, switch rodeo 5, 900 and such tricks.

ghost dragon is absolutely right..

i did 7's, 3 grabs, some rails, 180's,mistys, switch 180's, and switch 5's in my first year then i got hurt the year after then this year i stepped it up

with 180-720 grabs switch 5 grabs.. loops, better mistys, unnatural 180 and 360 grabs.. 5's and flairs in the pipe. and i learned to do moguls and tree skiign this year

my first year doing park i could spin up to a 1080 no style no grabs, and i could do backflips. then i went to camp and learned underflips, the following season thats all i did, that and learn rails. this year by will i only did things under 720, unless i had to do more.

My choice is what i choose to do, and if I'm causin no harm it shouldnt bother you?

Your choice is who you choose to be, if your causin no harm you're alright with me.

Before you knock it try it first, for you will see its a blessing and not a curse.

If you dont like my fire then don't come around, cuz i gonna burn one down.

this was my first year, and i learned 3's like a month b4 th season, after that i learned backs, 5,7,9 and most rails. I progressed so much at the end. I was pissed that i couldnt have one more month.

my first year i was pussy and could do like a 15 foot rail and 360s. then this year i went from shitty 3 to 7 tail in about a week somehow. then i did somethn to re-injure my back from football and it hurt to do shit. couldnt do moguls or shit like that (wasn't doctors orders, if i went into moguls my back would give me a sharp pain then collapse) that slowed my progression down. later in the year i just worked on rails so i wouldnt hurt my back. got shit down like traps, 270 out, rainbows, kinks (gimme a rail ill do it.)

so basically its wat your willing to do, if you think you can do it, you can. only thing stoppn u is your mind. just be confident, ski into jumps faster, jump higher, and tweak extremer! ok that was gay

my first year once i learned to do a 360 i made sure i could spin it both ways and made sure i coulld do it with grabs, the i stepped it up to a 5, and made sure my railing skills where really stylie

I've been skiing most of my life... but never really was intrested in progressing any air related things... I'm more into the steeps, and power, and all stuff. I started with 3's and basic grabs last year, and learned those pretty fast. I've noticed that I progressed alot faster this year in some areas more than others. Pipe came easiest to me. First year in the pipe and I could do flares by the end of the year (yesterday). I'm totally boosting now... and the pipe just came naturally to me. Tables were next best... I've only done 3's, but I can throw a grab here and there with some style. I don't mind going big, and I'm sure I'll get better next year. Rails were the hardest for me to learn for some reason. Took me the longest time to be able to do them consistantly... and I spend probably the most time learning them, and getting better. The moral of this story is that yes, people all progress at different speeds compared to eachother, and people also progress differently in different areas. So just stick with whatever it is you want to learn, and you'll get it eventually.
