Your outwear style, and your riding ability style

And for my first post on newschoolers in probably 2 years:

No matter how dope my clothes are they will still never live up to the greatness that is my style.

I'm sure you'd all agree if you even remembered who the hell I am.

Yay Newschoolers!  hahahaha

woah did you even read what i first posted, i never said i defined respect for someone around their clothing, i said i found the kid dressed in all this years oakley setup who was not even trying, a little ridiculous, this has nothing to do with his riding ability but the fact that he was dressed like he's going to hit the park, but then the kid gives up after his first try on a rail

im discussing this more on a level of posers who don't try, rather than ppl who aren't good enough to match their outerwear

and dont be a douche to me when you didn't understand what im talking about, if we were discussing how i didnt have respect for ppl who didn't throw down big enough tricks to match their steezy outerwear then ya i should shut up and worry about myself, end of thread, but i tried to take this in a different direction, discussing the problem with posers wearing sick outerwear who dont try at all and easily give up

Baggy as hell, bandanas on face, ambush tall tees. ive been skiin for 14 years and raced for 6. I enjoy presses and late shifty 180's, nose butter 5's, if it aint steezy i wont do it

i wear large jackets and pants. but i think i can ski... but really, who the hell should care what u wear, if ppl judge you for that, they are fucking weaakkk.

I dont care how good they are, they are weak in my books. I think the coolest ppl to be around are skaters. When i skate, you barely ever see ppl who arent stoked on other ppl.

but skiing, seems like there can be more stuck up ppl then other sports...

You have no idea who that person is, or whats going on with them. You saw them for one day, or maybe even multiple times over the season, sure, that still doesnt mean you know them or have a clue what they are really doing.

Maybe I didn't get what you meant, maybe.

You didn't get what I meant either, at least not well enough to discount what I said in the first place,

Go worry about yourself, not the other kids who ride the mountain with you.

i feel the same way. i dont even like riding the park anymore because people always expect something out of you, and then judge you by how well you do something, i personally dont give a shit if im good or not at tricks. i just love riding, esp powder, but east coast park rats who have never realy skiied it dont understand

same. i'll buy an outfit i like, but nothing over the top like the 08 oakley stuff. i just bought a buckshot for like $80 brand new. i've wanted that jacket for awhile and i dont see it worn too often. I cant do a 720 or anything, but i'll throw style in with my moves so thats all i really go for.

The fact is, most of us skiers have role models, or better yet, kids who we want to be like when we ski. Everyone wants the style of tom wallisch, tanner, colby, cvan, and others. We see these top athletes in the sport of freesking rockin the most stylish of clothing, mostly due to sponsors, and they start to set the trend for wats cool to wear in the park or not. When your on the lift or on the mountain and u see that kid rocking the brightest or baggiest shit ever with his bandana up to his gogs like hes gonna rob the cafeteria when he heads into the lodge, u expect him to throw down mainly because he's calling attention to u, plus we have this image from wat the pros wear.

on that note, i wear some pretty absurd stuff color-wise and brand-wise, mainly cuz im an idiot...i crochet the most ridiculous of hats and when i ride i consider it a good day when i stomp 90's onto rails with pretzel 90's out or even if i land backwards. on occasion i throw some helicopters over bumps

some people are missing the bigger picture of what is really happening, skiers are getting the preception that material possesions such as coats and skis determine the skill level of the beholder.... this is the same concept that youth are being faced with today some of us have the idea that what we look like and what we wear determine the kind of person we are. this is why skiers such as glen plake and the founders of our sport made skiing what it is.. they wanted to leave all the stereotypes, self image problems behind them and ski for the love of the sport no matter what skis they had or what kind of clothes.. they just wanted to ski for the love of it.. i think we are becoming what snowboarders are .. we no longer ski for nessecarily the love of the sport we ski for fame and fortune and the lifestyle the leaders of the sport live instead of skiing for ourselves and because we love it.... no matter whatt you wear it just doesn't have any effect on the skier you are

good call, i think its especially true that our sport may be starting to turn into the the fashion statement that most of snowboarding has become

I think you can dress any way you wanna steezy or straight

only problem i have is when i see some rich kid bastard who spent 1200 on setup and another 800 on his outfit, tryin to look steezy as hell, but all he does the entire day is straight airs the small jumps. and most of all is hang around the top of the rails for 15 minutes before riding down the hill, skipping the entire park

^

i just have a problem with someone who thinks money buys their skill and respect, when they actually have no skill. Know what im sayin? I dont have a prob with that person if they go out and crash every time they try even the simpliest box or tryin something on the smallest jumps. But if you think your good cuz of how much money you put into your setup and clothes plus with the hotshit atitude that comes w/ it .. i just hate it

ok, heres how i feel.

if i see a someone on the mountain with a huge goggle gap and pants that "fit" i would not think much of him, if i see a guy shredding in huge steezy outerwear OR really tight pants and a scarf then i usually assume that they can throw down. I also belive that to a point you should earn your outerwear becuase i think its funny when i see some kid rollin around in his XXL oakley ozone shit that can barly 3.

but honestly dont worry about it guys, the most i would do if i saw a kid like that is say to my friend "hes kind of a poser eh?" (or somthing along those lines) and then forget about it.

Have you though about the fact that maybe they spend their money to buy quality gear that'll keep them warm and dry and contribute to the rapid progression of their skill level? You know as well as I do that most expensive gear performs much better than cheaper gear, so if they have the money and want to buy some sick good looking stuff power to them! It's what keeps this industry going strong.

exactly I got my outfit in a pretty good deal 60% off and im not the greatest at park I lowride because i like it, it feels comfortable and i look the same outside the mtn but i guess rich spoiled unmature fucks specially in pc dat ride the park judge 2 much and all im thinking is they 2 grow up and shut the fuck up because no one cares wut u think.

Thank you

i wear a white bern baker helmet with green/blue scott goggles, green orage jacket, kakhi 686 pants, red nordica boots, 04 volkl karma's with 04 look pivot 10's. Im pretty good i can throw like 3 both ways 5 both ways and 7 to the left. 270 on/off both ways. I don't see the relationship between gear and skill. This time next year im gonna buy a pair of this year's skis

Thats exactly what i thought when i saw that kid acting like hes the shit just cuz hes got more money put into skiing than most people would

Your a tool. Put a gun in your mouth or keep it shut. He bought what he did because a) hes got the money to do so, b) he likes that particular style for whatever reason.

Do you honestly care that much about what he wears?

Do you think HE cares about what you think?

Honestly, get a life and quit judging people on what they wear. Your on the hill for the wrong reason.

i love how you can get made fun of for having money...

maybe he is new to the sport? and if he is rich, why not buy the best looking/performing gear on the market...i understand what you are saying, but you have to look at it from both sides.

I hate kids who dress steezy and then all they do is sit on their ass at the top of the park just to look cool. Basically I hate posers. I totally respect anyone who tries to be better even if their noobs.

I totally agree with what nomensteven said.

Why judge others on what they wear? People dont dress themyselves according to their abilities to ride. Like, I feel good in my XXL pants and if people judge me because I wear that stuff and dont hang out and shred in the park all day, then it's their fucking problem not mine. I'll have fun skiing and rocking my XXL pants while they'll be losing their time judging me.

Anyway, my point is no one should have to justify the way they dress or be scared to wear something because of others judgement.

i have what i think is a nice setup, im good a big mtn, cliffs, pow, ect.. ill huck fronts and backs off anything. im so so at park. but i did get some good deals on my set up + my moms a Salomon rep so i get some new hard goods ever season! frankly i dont give a shit. if there having a good time trying to get better, no worrys. you never know, some kid coulda got a dope setup used at a swap for cheep or he may have a good job. Skiing could be his life, but due to injuries, location, privileges may not be able to get in as many days as he would like. I don't think you can assume any correlation until you have his story. But you never know, i do know of one! Fuck this sounds hypocritical o well

i don't know if this is only in gay new jersey but wtf is up with kids stitching their snowpants to look like bell bottoms. looks like the fucking brady bunch

i have orage alaskan jacket green and white, orage morph pants green, r.e.d. sky cap geen, rossi sratch bc pro, im rocking the white and green lol, im alright mybiggest trick i can do is a 540, and i couldh it all the jumps n mountwashington last season, and i can do a few rails

has anyone seen this? because its really fucking weird and everyday i go, there is more and more snowboard faggots doing this
