YOUR opinion on the TroubleMaker!

just courious, does your opinion of the troublemaker for this season differ at all from the hype of last season? Whos planing on buying a set this year, and if not planing on buying a set, why not? The troublemaker was hugely popular this past season, does anyone see it having the same popularity this upcoming season?

I bought a pair before last season, I was very impressed with them and still like them as much as the day I first rode em. No durability issues but I don't do that many rails and I don't beat on em very hard on the rails that I do. I think the general opinion on this ski has come around full circle from last season. Maybe not so much out on the ski hills but definitely on this board. It went from the ski to have to the ski that has its edges fall out in a week. I do worry about my edges and I do think something should be done to make them stronger. I cracked an edge on my old concepts and continued to ski them with no problem for a half a season til they were retired. This is an issue with probably every ski out there, some handle the abuse better than others.

i dont own a pair, nor have i ridden them, but ive seen kids with them and they have the most beat up edges i have ever seen.

i was going to go for a quad daffy but i was like, why huck? -mommy

I picked them based oin the fact that I don't really do rails right now, and have beater skis if I want to spend a day working on rails. I like pipe jumps and messing arounf on the hill. Basically to decided whether you want them, you need to be truly honest about what type of skiing you plan on doing, then pick a ski.

The smart man does not know everything, rather the smart man admits when he knows nothing.

Is Dynastar coming out with a regular troublemaker this year, or is the troublemaker the 3 Phils pro models, and all different topsheets.

Or are the three pro models all the troublemaker but different sizes for each model?

I'm kinda clueless on these skis.

never riden them but i hear they are the least durable skis on the planet. the graphics are sick though.

$$$$$ FACTION SKIS $$$$$

this is my season to get new skis. As of last season I would have loved to get TMs. After knowing/talking to people that ride them, and from what I've read on the internet, I'd never consider buying them, because I do rails, and they do not seem to hold up to that.

I understand you can't believe what you see on the internet, and just cus one pair of skis gets fucked, it doesn't mean all of them will. However, all the TMs I saw in person looked beat up under the boot, and combine that with what you read on the net, it doesn't look good.

i use it all over the mountain, and the only place it lacks is in powder, and i know thats not what the ski was designed for. My top sheet is scratched up but i odnt have many chips. My edges on the other hand have definatly seen better days.

i had a pair, tail delamed, warranty'd them..two weeks later, compressed edge and one ski was bent...i got them for free so i wasnt badly upset..but i wouldnt plunk down cash for a pair...ive seen too many beat to hell...vanulars GOOD pair he brought to the keystone jibfest had 2 inches of missing edge...and ive seen over 10 pairs warranty'd outta one shop alone

Hibachi King Drops 8/31/04

i have ridden this ski most of last season, and here is my input

Pros:

great shape, i think the dimensions of this ski are amazing. it rides switch very smoothly, is capable of laying down nice carves without loosing stability. it isnt that wide, but i think making it wider would loose some of the good handling chacteristics.

nice graphics

Pop. for the first few weeks, this ski was amazing. i could come into transistions and get far more air than on most other skis. however, i was never able to get them to ollie as good as my lines. they seemed very damp until the ski started to really flex (like in a half pipe transition)

good bases. they seemed to hold up well with minimal scratching; they were very fast to accelerate

Cons

Tosheet cracked very easily. the sidewalls were not very durable. first day out i peeled a good chunk off.

the core. This is the big problem area of this ski. one, it heavy. two, it wears out very fast. i am not a hundred percent, but i assume this is a horizontal laminate core? this is the main issue. one, it uses a ton of epoxy compared to a V lam core. this makes it alot heavier, plus all the glue joints break in alot faster than the solid strips of wood in a vlam. i have an idea for cores that i have been thinking about for a while. instead of using straight-sided strips of wood, the core is comprised of trapazoid-shaped stringers, every other one being inverted to create a flat plank. i dont have the reasources to fully develop and test it, but i think you guys should give it a shot. it should give quite a bit more pop than the standard v lam, but still weigh about the same.

alright, back to the cons,

the pieces of metal on the bases (at the tips have to go. not only do the edges delam there, but it adds quite a bit of swing weight. get red of them.

i never had any problems, but from what i hear the edges go very quick. not that this is a problem suffered only by this ski, but it does seem to plague it. Line is using a real wide base and edge this year, and i think this is really the only way to go.

my final thought.

this is a great ski that suffers from a couple design flaws. with some improvement, it would be the best park/all mountain ski out. fix the core, make it lighter, and make it durable, and youll have a winner. i am warrentying my current pair in exchange for a pair of 2005 lines. when the issues of the current skis are fixed, ill be right back on them.

Lets go skiing

a fun light and playful park ski to ride when they are brand new, about a month later when the edges are totally gone and you cant turn or stop with em, they really fucking suck

you can build a thousand bridges, but you suck one dick and your known as a cocksucker.. not a bridge builder.

apE

i enjoyed them when i rode them...super soft...but i wouldt want to ride them all the time...just a park ski i guess

the TM with edges like PE's would rock

Troublemakers are a real good all around stick, but people gotta understand that skis arent made to be sliding across metal objects. As far as the LBF... uhmm i wouldnt be terribly upset to not see it next year. TMs are good if you can get a good price.

And They Say There's A Marajuana Problem!... There's No Problem, Everyone Has It...

what are you talking about? last time I checked, twin tip skis are intended to be used on rails. Certain sticks are just better at it. Chronics are definitely beefed up (not that i'll be buyin em).

I considered a pair of Troublemakers, but the 75mm waist is useless. How about a fat one with fat edges?

How much does Dynastar pay Harvey to use NS fo research purposes? I would hope that a company as honest as Dynastar would be above abusing newschoolers.com' free services for their financial gain.

And haven't there been enough threads about Troublemakers to give you guys years of R&D?

yo the skis rule even when they fall apart. except skiing in the east around icey trees. never knowing when ur edge isnt going to hold and u lose ur life.

real gangsta ass niggas dont flex nuts, cuz real gangsta ass nigga know they got em.

LBF is gone legend 8800 is exact swap for the nobis which is a stiff lbf. LBF and TM's = heavy I like both especially LBF except for the tail, good to hike with but makes you look goofy in the park, I like lbf much more than tm in park + LBF is very very stable at insane speed edges suck but hold repairs (5) very nicely.

'3030'

ps LBF should have been 182 instead of max 178 what are you guys thinking? Make a new ski a fatter not to fat tm 88 underfoot and lighter get to work I already switched to rossi which doesn't matter in the overall profit but shit

'3030'

i have a friend who rode them last season. these are the only words i can remember him saying about them:

'fucking shit-ass edges'

but damn do they look cool

my edges fell out after 3 days of riding on them. my synopsis. worst skis on the market. there are other skis out there that are just as good in the park and pipe (mad trix, PE's, factions, 1260's, scratches) that have edges that will last most people a whole season as suposed to afew days.

fix the edges. I really don't think you need a thread for R and D to know that the edges suck ass and need to be improved. I skied TM's last season, lost my edges. I'm skiing them again this season but not exactly pumped for them.

i demoed then and loved them everywhere but i cracked an edge in one day of demoing them but if the edges were strong i would buy em for sho

is all about tha benjamins

if dynastar needs this forum to figure out they have an edge problem with the TMs, they must have their heads up their asses pretty far. hopefully they fixed it for this year. maybe vtrider has a comment on that.

east coast style brought up a good point that I forgot. There is some kind of flaw in the tip design, probably the metal underneath them. The tips get all hacked up very quickly from the skis hitting one another. My old concepts started to delam from this and the tm looks like they have the same exact problem.

thae are awesome skis in the pipe. on rails they suck but it doesnt matter what ski you have you are going to break edges but these edges go really fast

so, in conclusion, just demo a different pair every day of the season, so you can still ride nice skis, but not fuck up your edges, because they wouldn't be your edges, every day... SO YOU TAKE THE BULL'S WORD FOR IT. wow, that made no sense. i'm sorry. damn i'm stoned...

I really like the troublemakers, but just as everyone said, the edges blow. i ski'd from june-december and edges were blown out. toss on a thicker edge and get rid of the metal shit on the tip and tail and you've got a great ski.

Life sucks, get a fucking helmet

Dynastar losing market segment legend series wrong way to go still so many nobis' laying around nobody wants

answer is lbf full twin combined with tm or you will be gone by 06. Double wide edges with alternating screw pattern into base like this ..:..:..: or this .'..'..'..'..'..' NOT like this ............... look at seth/pe ect not afraid to put harware screws rivets ects forget about monocap look go with utility not shinyness.

The TM's are an awesoome ski.

Check out the trailer to Minor Threat. It features the best skiers from all over New York State (It's under the edits/shorts section or in Huckfest900's profile)
