Your fav mountain out west

yo im going on a little ski trip out west over christmas break with my family. the only thing is i have never skiied out west and need some suggestions on which mountain we should go to. i'm looking for big mountain skiing obviously and park doesn't mean anything to me. so give me some suggestions, there are so many mountains to choose from
 
well i have been to whistler, sunshine and lake louise and if your looking for just %100 pow then id say louise. there are just too many people that go to whistler so u never really get any fresh pow inbounds in bowls and stuff. and lake louise gets so much snow. sunshine is windy as fuck so they always close the upper part and the only place i could find fresh tracks was in like some glades. go to louise.
 
yo come on can i get some help here. im looking for the best bet west-coast (usa) for snow around new years. i dont know where to start just throw a few names out there
 
All right all right, if you want snow go to Fernie. Lake Louise is good an all but it doesn't get that much snow (sunshine actually gets more) and gets super icy in a lot of areas. Even though this is the case I would still ski at L.L. just cause I've been doing it for the past 8 years :P. But if you really want snow go to Fernie. Mid-season yah just can't beat it, it's just so fucking good. It dumps and dumps.
 
if its big mountain ur after, and i mean really good terrain, go to kicking horse in golden (4200 intense feet of vert, all of it steep).

Or whitewater or red mtn further south.

As far as im concerned, these are the big mountain meccas in bc.

Fernies kickass too tho.
 
in the US go mammoth, for canada go whistler.

as for california, i prefer squaw for challenging terrain, but for your first time out west mammoth is your best bet, quality snow due to the high elevation(8500ft base-11000 peak), an insane amount of sun, and terrain that will give you a challenge without scaring the shit out of you. and not to mention you can take a break in the main park and watch the best park skiing and snowboarding in the world.

but as for whistler, wistler is the best inbounds skiing in north america, the only downside is the lack of sun.

the problem with my choices is price, both being the high end lift tickets.

if you cannot afford those options check, kirkwood or mt. rose.

alot of people would not agree with me but i say steer clear of the rockies, dry snow means rocks and sub zero temperatures.

 
hit up Squaw or Alpine for pow, Northstar or Boreal for park, and if you feel like driving huge distances, go to Mammoth for the best of the best
 
Alta/Snowbird. Salt Lake City is a nice city and the riding options are nothing short of epic. Powder, parks and pipes, the greater SLC area has got it all.
