Your 22/23 Ski Season Thread

Seeing as how A-Basin is now open, I thought it might be a good time to start a 22/23 ski season thread.

I'm in the northeast, so it'll be about a month before I'm on snow but feel free to post your day counts, share great days you had over the season etc. here.

Praying for some cold weather so the resorts can start making some snow. By the way, I've received mixed views on how the season is going to roll out, what are your predictions? Got lots of people saying it's gonna dump, but others think it's gonna be warm and rainy (I realize it'll be different across the country, talking bout the East here).

west side here, home hill is snowbowl in AZ. It's pretty warm all the time here but we've already gotten some snow. Should open mid November.

Yeah I remember seeing a pic of some snowliage there. Looked pretty.

Can't afford to rent in a ski town this winter and if I'm day tripping I feel like I might as well do mostly touring since I have a setup and would save on not having to buy a pass.

Northeast US

Awesome. You know the RASTA and GBA zones right? If not search it up. Lots of gladed backcountry areas that these groups maintain. They're pretty popular but they're a good starting point for bc

Yeah my buddies do the GBA zones all the time. I'll probably go with them a bit this year. Never heard of RASTA tho.

rasta is like the vermont version of gba. they have some good zones such as brandon gap.

My season finna start today at A Basin ?

Nah but about predictions. I remember my first year in Tahoe, a bootfitter told me “it’s going to be La Niña which means even more snow than last year” which made me jonesing because prior year was El Niño and they got like 350 inches.

I literally could not find anyone to corroborate this. Like no one. But sure enough, come January and the snow turned on and didn’t stop. Ended up getting 700+” that year. 2nd most on record.

Morale of the story -nobody really knows except for that one weird rando you bump into who is secretly a shaman

Nice! Funny story. ^

Keystone has opened as well, with 2 trails and 3 lifts.

It’s October 29th and we haven’t had a long enough cold snap to consistently make snow at Killington.

Let’s just say I’m pretty antsy to ski at this point.

Yes, hopefully there'll be enough cold air to get ready for the World Cup or whatever. Only silver lining is that Magic is benefitting from the warm weather, with their installing a new lift and everything (they've had setbacks).

going for a hundred this year, im in Denver so thinking of work from hill 2 days a week when there’s good snow. am i crazy? yes. would my 12 year old self be rock hard? yes.

it’s the little things

second day of skiing today at sugarbush. they got 2 lifts open so that was nice. tried a 360 but only made it around to 270 and slammed my head into the ground lol. i'll try again on fri.
