Younglife:

Club
An experience in controlled chaos, Club, usually associated with a high school, typically meets weekly for an hour or so. Young Life leaders create a high energy environment featuring songs, skits, and participation games. Towards the end of the evening, a leader gives a talk on an aspect of the Christian message. Club is the place to be, to enjoy friends and be part of the action. Club is a safe place to be one's self and to express that teenage tendancy to push the limits.

Campaigners
This is the name given to our weekly Bible study and high school leadership team. Staff and leaders hold weekly discussion groups to give teenagers the opportunity to grow in their Christian faith and to plan and implement the weekly clubs. The goal is to see these young people become active participants in their church community.

Well i do both the club and campaigners but i have not once gone to church... under my own free will. So its no crazy christian thing, which everyone thinks it is. Its just chillin with friends and having a good time.

Im just curious. does anyone here on NS know what Younglife is? does anyone participate in younglife? and has anyone ever gone to Rockridge?

What flavor is the Kool-aid there? And do I bring my white nikes or do I get them when I sign up??

Just Kidding

my school goes hard with younglife. it seems fun if you're real into that kind of stuff..they went to rockbridge this summer.

I knew kids when I was in high school that did it. They got me to go to one meeting, wasn't really for me.

Oh and Dave Treadway is a leader.
he was chillin with my leader, they were leaders together in calgary. then after while he was like... im kinda a professional skier.

young life is the beez kneez! i do campaigners too...but younglife always is TONS of fun...if your looking for a summer camp and wanna meet cool people go to younglife. it's dope. and i went to one in minnesota...eagle lake i think?

I went to rockbridge just this past summer and so did a few other newschoolers. I will say it will be the best time of your life. There is so much to do and you never get bored. I have been going to YL for awhile now and its great. I would highly suggest that if you can go to the camp, go. You will not regret it one bit. PM me if you have any more questions or anything.

I would imagine most people on here won't have anything good to say about Younglife, but it's pretty fun. their camps are awesome. Essentially it's worth checking out for yourself.

My bad. Fail on reading. Thought you said RockBridge not rockridge. Either way they are they same activities and what not.

dub post, but I was pretty involved with YL in high school and had the opportunity to do work crew at Malibu Club. I would highly reccomend to anyone on here who is involved with YL to do work crew if you get the chance, I met a ton of really cool people.

i have chemistry with some younglife friends... like 5 of them haha. we are learning about how the atom makes up everything... not god. it all contradicts what we were learning about the night before at club. i think its cool to get different prospectives.
i personally like to believe in god. but all the recent facts point to evolution.

dude i was just gonna make a thread about YL..i love it. definately changed my life for the better. OP, did you goto camp this summer?

They got it at my city from middle schoolers to seniors in high school. pretty much a cult. all the members push others to go to their events. The whole concept of younglife is to make kids hardcore christian disciples. They don't go to rockridge but they do go to a place called malibu which is in canada.

a few kids in my school do it............ they love it and keep trying to get me to go but im really down down with the christian 'message'

(this is in no way a comment about christianity, or those who follow it. this is my opinion.)

yeah, school is starting up and club is starting again, thats probs why we both thought of it.

Im jewish and I have actually had people who know that try reasonably hard to get me to go. Not going to rain on anybody's parade, if your into it, more power to you, im sure it can be fun. I just have a feeling that there are some ulterior motives behind the whole thing. And actually, while I guess I technically identify as Jewish, I really am not a fan of religion in general. But that is a can of worms I have no desire to open, and as such, this will probably be my only post in this thread.
later.

YL is dope. I was super involved throughout high school and ended up doin work crew twice (Malibu & Crooked Creek). Hands down the best thing I've ever done. If you're looking into going this summer and have any questions just pm me.

Its pretty cool to see all the kids on NS who have heard of it or gone to club/camp. Also, is it trendy on NS to hate on religion and claim atheism?

Ive done the young life camp. it was fun as shit. kinda gay in some ways tho. they took my phone away and pretty much tried to restrict some things you do. but i look back now and realize it wasn't that big of a deal.

The actual young life ive only been to a couple of times. it was alright. but really not worth my time. IMO

That is how 80% of summer camps are, or at least that I've experienced. They want you to get more out of the camp.

rockridge is the name of my school
ha ok but how do you register/ go to the rockridge summer thing? looks wayy better then the christian camp me and my friends usally go to every year.

It's incredibly trendy, which is why I'm surprised this thread is going anywhere.

But yeah, I was involved for the last two years of high school and it was one of the best experiences ever. Anyone can sit behind their computer and talk about how it's a cult with an ulterior motive all they want... but you'd change your mind if you ever gave it a shot. I started going when I had never really even believed in God, but I never felt uncomfortable or pressured.

haha i like their camps and stuff but i always think about this and try to explain it to my religious friends who are really into it . . . they aren't pleased

you sir, are undoubtedly RETARDED. you talk shit about YL, just cause you know its something that has to do with Christianity, no one fucking pressures you, or forces their oppinions, its a thing for people who want to go, who want to have fun, and go to sick ass camps, and meet some sweet ass people. the camps are the shit, and your a piece of shit, its like school teachers telling you smoking weed makes you die... no one listens to them cause they know they dont have first hands experiances... thats you NO ONE LISTENS TO YOUR IGNORANT DuMB ASS COMMENTS

your a fucking idiot. damn is the news brainwashing too? cause they tell you the truth on whats going on, thats what YL is, they tell you the TRUTH, you can be a miserable kid who sits at home and tells his friends about his new bong he just got, your a catch bro

woah dude. you cant call someone an idiot for and stating their opinion and then go around judging him for his own decisions. calling the kettle black.

ive looked into younglife a lot, almost went a few times in highschool, and i have nothing against religion, but it just made me uncomfortable to be attending a camp in which their main goal was to teach christianity.

and the truth? you believe that God created this earth? honestly?

Woah there, slow down. He stated his opinion, and even though it could have been biased, you go off calling him retarded and slanging him and what he said. I mean, what do they teach you at these types of things? I thought in theory Christianity was about acceptance, not hate. This is why I don't look into religion in the sense of Young Life, people like you.

And also, what 'truth' does Young life tell you? You're bashing people online for little reason, proclaiming to have been told the truth... what does that say about it?

hahaha i love how ignorant this post is... america would be in a completely different situation if the news told the "truth" or should i say the whole truth... the media/news is a collection of stories to get people's attention, quite frequently, extremely biased (except for a selected few). its a business, just like any other (probably your little youth group as well) they're just making money.

so if you really find comfort in this stuff, cool. just remember, its a business just like any other out there. you can find peace, enlightenment, whatever you want to call it, on your own... and probably a lot more clear than the bullshit they feed you....

oh yeah, not too Christian-like to be so judgmental towards other peoples views? i mean i had about twelve years of catholic schooling and i was taught not to judge people and be open minded toward people with different views?

sounds like this program is doing a pretty good job at shaping respectable, well rounded youth.

sounds pretty hypocritical

oh wait, you're catholic.

personally am a fan of younglife. just took a trip to jackson hole with them and several groups from around the state of montana, and aside from a few minutes in the morning and night spent talking about god its all about having fun. its a very laid back environment and the religion aspect is very small compared to the activities that it follows. i am christian, but im not a huge fan of jesus this jesus that, and younglife does well to include people from all religious backgrounds by not heaping their beliefs on you

the younglife in my area is creepy.. It was pretty big when i was in high school..the dude in charge was an alright guy, though. He always tried to get me to come but i never had the heart to tell him i thought it was a creepy joke and just made up excuses every time..
