You thought looking at the stars made you feel small...

my dad works for lokhead martian and they are buliding a telescope that will replace the hubble and seince when you look at things really far away your look into the past. so when this telescope goes out in the next 20 years we might be able so see to the begging of time. i thought this was really intersting

fucking fuck

I wanna know how many other life forms and societys somewhat like ours out their, i dont doubt there is.

^ Lockheed Martin.

I don't think I could handle being an astronomer. That stuff fucks with your brain. Damn.

the chance to see the beginning of time is long gone. that light we see now is from when space was young. by looking deeper into space we will be able to gather light that hasn't reached us yet so we can see a more current space. remember, like the video said the light we see now is 10 million years old, so that means whatever radiated light that is at this second repelling from a galaxy will be seen in 10 million years presuming the hubble is kept forever.

is that all it is? just a picture with music? cool I guess but it is jsut saying that there is a star much much bigger than ours somewhere.

Yeah man, I agree. It would be really cool knowing what is out there. If we could trade too. If they had things that could cure disease and we had things that they needed. That would be pretty sick.

I don't know if you guys have heard, but there has been a new discovery of water/ice on Mars. We might be able to land there as soon as 2015. It could explain a lot of the mystery of life and the ever rendering question.

If we do determine that there is life on mars, it will prove that the creation of life isn't a miracle and that it can happen elsewhere in another part of the universe. Pretty deep shit, but this discovery could alter the basis of thousands of years of religion.

wow. that means that there's most likely tons of other planets with living things. maybe other humans. crazy shit

If we DID meet a different intelligent race, imagine trying to communicate with them

i was gonna post this the other day...it blew my fucking mind, if there are that many in one tiny spot how many are there out there?

i love this shit so someone PLEASE invite me to any cult that involves people talking about really deep shit, i'd enjoy tat in my down time

"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us."

ya, my science teacher showed this to make. fuckin insane. and its cool to think, if you go far enough out into space, and look back at earth, you can see yourself being born, becuase the light will just be getting there. then, u start thinking, if you could go far enough out, you could watch the earth being created.

yeah it's amazing, i saw a picture once that said that the distance across the picture is something like 7 million lightyears, it's unbelievable, and i think it's this picture:

85.jpg

yeah, it was a 3D mathematical code, it was actually pretty realistic taken freom sound frequences, it can be done, yeah, an invite to the thinkers cult would be sweet

thats the eagle nebula, where stars are born from, of course its big!

think of it this way: we are so far away from some stars, that the day they were created and their light turned on, it shot in our direction. Now imagine the speed of light, travelling for millions of years in our direction, and the light still hasn't reached us, which is why we dont see some stars. In 1 million years, when you look up at the sky, there will be more stars, because perhaps the light may have finally reached our planet.

that thing was sweet... but the one thing i dont really like about astonamy is that there is tooo many planets and shit... you know what i dont like tho... how many other planets have the astonamers found... other than the ones in our solar system... none? thats stupid eh? you'd think with all this new technology we would have found another lifeform already and and whole other solar systems and shit

omg thats crazy...that proves that its impossible that there isnt no form of life other than us in the entire space infinity.

that is awwwesome! i heard debate about getting rid of the hubble and i got so pissed. but getting an upgrade like a completely new one is fine.

lets see. moon is about 1/400 of our sky i'm guessing, the hubble photgraph was 1/10 of that. 10,000 galaxies, 1,000,000,000,000 stars. maybe 50 planets each i'm guessing. So from what WE KNOW ONLY there are 200,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets in the sky that the hubble telescope can see alone. The chances of life existing i'm guessing is less that. Just a guess though.
