Basketball was invented by a Canadian in America. So even that one isnt 100% American. To the rest of that, what the fuck?? You're education and health systems also suck major ass compared to the rest of the first world countries out there fyi. No offense because I've met a lot of great, nice, smart and healthy Americans. I'm just saying dont be so quick to say "fuck everyones opinion but mine." Thats ignorant, and its what makes people quick to generalize Americans as such.
 
Education system... suck major ass? wait, what? why are there so many people from other countries being educated in the U.S. if our education system is so horrendous?

Also, health systems are purely personal opinion. I could say the U.K.'s health system sucks because although it is free, you may have to wait months to get a hospital bed, which is not an issue in the states.
 
It has recently been suggested that baseball actually evolved from Rounders, which is a British sport. It was originally thought to be the other way around but a recent study suggests differently.

Ice Hockey is Canadian.

Basketball was invented by white people but dominated by black people, thats got to have something to do with it. Plus its a pretty insane sport to begin with when you think about it.

I think American football is less complicated that Rugby, personally. And I'm familiar with the rules of both.

in 1997 the entire washington dc school term for EVERY school had to be delayed by 3 weeks because one-third of all schools were found to be unsafe.

your government has cut funding in schools sooo much that corporate sponsorship for schools is needed. in 1998 coca-cola bought the rights to the Wylie, Texas school district on a 1.5million dollar 15 year contract.

I believe the only reason more foreign kids are appearing in your country is because their parents would have a better education and therefore are being brought in to fill the jobs that your public do not have the qualifications for. its unfortunate but most probably true.

You said that India has more university graduates than the United States, but doesn't India have 4 times more people than the United States (1.2billion India, 300 million USA)? Wouldnt you kind of expect them to have more graduates? I really don't see what your point is. The number of gradutates doesn't reflect the quality of the universities or the quality of the graduates.

you can't make bullshit comparisons between two completely different countries. And college graduates do not determine living conditions of the country. Because if it did, in India everytime a 100 foot boat being used as a ferry shunk, 5,000 people wouldn't be killed.

And Americans take this shit personally because this is all we get. You never hear of how popular Americans are abroad, because the world relatively inexplicable hates us. For me its somewhat a lose-lose situation, because i'm a French-American. So in France they hate the american in me, and in the US they hate the French in me.
 
you forget about the private school sector, which is one of the most successful school systems in the world. And do you forget about our Universities? 6 of the top 10 ranked Universities in the WORLD are in the United states, Harvard is Ranked 1st, 2nd is Yale, the remaining 4 universities are all in the U.K.... but you're right our schooling systems are garbage. fucking morons
 
I think the number of families that EXPECT their kid to get drafted into the NFL as a freshman in high school, you could count on one hand.

That being said-- if you don't enjoy the NFL, don't watch it. Watch college football instead if you want. Of course there is gambling on NFL games, there's gambling on ANYTHING that has odds (obama vs. mccain, american idol, march madness)-- gambling doesn't spoil the game, most people don't even come in contact with the gambling side of sports. Also, there are a lot of commercials, because advertisers know that football gets a lot of viewers-- just like there are a ton of commercials during the accademy awards. Yeah, it sucks, but whatever-- DVR it.

Also, the challenge rule is the shit. You think it was only implemented so that more commercials could be broadcasted?? Then how can you justify the number of calls overturned by a challenge review?
 
you do realize that the money spent by companies for air time during the superbowl, is paid to the network which is broadcasting the game.

The NFL most definitely gets a fairly large chunk of that money, heck the networks do PAY the NFL for rights to their games. It all gets back to the NFL one way or another.

Also, regarding what you said about the challenge system... why wouldn't they implement a system similar to the college leagues? I think that system is much more efficient and effective. The challenge system in the NFL seems like an unnecessary production. It so long for the ref to walk over to the booth, watch and re-watch the play from several angles, and then walk back out to the field and make the call... it definitely helps add to the already slow pace of an NFL game (with all of the commercial breaks they already have)In the NCAA they have a ref in the booth upstairs who can make the call instantly in comparison to the huge production the NFL makes you sit through.
 
They do that in the NFL also-- they have reviews from "above", aside from the challenges made by either team.

Ok, so you don't like the challenge system. I just have a completely different opinion, personally, I love it when there's a challenge flag thrown, and I love watching the slow motion replays of a "close call", and trying to determine if that call should be overturned or not. I find the commercial breaks at the 2 minute warnings and at the end of the quarters and time outs to be the most annoying-- usually they just do replays during the challenges-- in fact, I don't think they play commercials during challenges at all.

Refs are rediculous these days. Look at tha Denver vs. San Diego game. That bad call ruined tha game for San Diego and it was complete bullshit.

soccer, the worlds most popular sport has some pretty complicated rules relative to american football , maybe not quite as complicated as baseball tho.

my guess in general is that the reason american sports are more complicated is because america is a relatively new country. naturally, the sports that were created later in time are more complicated variations of previous sports.
 
Ok, if i were to paraphrase that sentence it would be that our sports are complex but we're lazy, and how can you expect people not to get upset about this. You brought up a totally random idea dissing america with no support to your argument. Don't get me wrong, i hate alot of things about my country, bush is a dumbass, there are alot of fat people compared to europe (if you don't believe me go there) but you can't generalize us like that. And you can't tell people not to take offense to this, if i were to say "with all respect, dont take this the wrong way, but your a total asshole" youd be pissed to. And as for your actual argument about complex sports? What? Look at fucking golf and cricket, football and baseball are not that complicated. This is a stupid idea thats only purpose was to piss people off and let you say that europe is better than america.
 
you raise an interesting question? Is today's game a pure representation of what the game of football is all about? so much to consider. I could write an essay if I wanted to... but I wont lol. I'll save it for another day.
 
That's they way it goes. Baseball has been putting up with it for over one hundred years. Football rules are turning football into a pussy sport, slowly. Look at how it started and then look at all the pussy rules they have now, especially when it comes to quarterbacks.

The only rule i can think of that causes confusion/trouble is offsides, and even that is pretty easy to understand. If a player is closer to the opposing team's goal than the last defender and the ball is played to them, they are offside. Everything else is quite straightforward

the rule where if someone touches you, you fall on the ground for 5 minutes writhing around, get carted off on the stretcher, then return to the game 10 minutes later perfectly healthy, and the refs subjectively add 15 minutes of bonus time for your superb acting skills.
 
what about the rule that gives you a yellow card for that? Or that they more than twice the number of games as american football players do?

but i don't like to debate these things, i prefer just good natured ribbing. I've got no problem with either of the footballs.

just because we have a bad reputation doesnt mean we are. its just easy for all the countries, especially those that arent as powerful, to gang up on us because were better. it makes them feel like they have something over us, when in reality they dont. sure there are lazy fat people here, but there are lazy fat people elsewhere. there are a fuck load of healthy americans, hard as it might be for you to believe.

 
Basketball was invented by james naismith (sp?) who is a canadian. You might not be fat and useless. Your dominince in the olympics is definetely falling off what it used to be and there are lots of countries in the world with an equal or better education system than yours. Also just because hockey is based in the US does not mean that it is an american sport, us Canadians and europeans seem to dominate that sport.
