Werd, can't decide between these frames, anyone out there ride them or know anything about them??

Currently am ruling on a Kona Stinky Deelux which is sick but want something a bit bigger and beefier, and it's had a hard life so probably won't live too much longer...

These are what I have the list down to:

Cove Peeler DH with 888 RC's

Giant Glory with Fox 40's

Soctt High Octane with 888 RC's

Da Bomb Projectile with Boxxer World Cups

Kona Stab Supreme with Fox 40's.

Anyone got any advice?

personally i like kona because they are a kick ass company, and they are usually really durable.

They also make the stinky line

which demands mad respect

i had a cove hardtail and i loved it. super high quality and an awesome company as well, rider driven

I would go for the Cove, but do you want a DH bike or more of a big hit bike ?

Because for more of a DH bike witch i think are better, i would highly recomend the iron horse sunday, santa cruz v10 or a turner dhr.

The Kona isn't bad but you should stay away from it when you have those other bikes in your head. If I were you I'd look for the Cove Shocker versus the Peeler. Other than that I really like the Giant DH bikes from last year (I sell them) but i havent seen this years yet so i cant pass judgement on them. Other than that I really liked the frame design on the Da Bomb but the others have better forks. Look at the new Gemini's from Cannondale under the Gracia line or look at Rocky Mountain Bicylces. But serioulsy look at the Cover Shocker over the Peeler it has a much better frame design.

Shocker doesn't have enough travel, I'm looking for 8.5 to 9+ Kind of moving away from the Coves for a few design reasons, I'm in love with Kona's coz they're so simple and reliable and fairly cheap too.

I'm after a big hit bike, built for huge jumps, massive drops and the odd bit of downhill racing. At the moment I've been doing everything on my Stinky Dee which has been fine but like I said, she's had a hard life and hasn't been looked after all that well.

your looking at bikes that are not very easy to pedle. the stinky isnt very easy either, but your going from freeride to DH. your might want to look at abike with a stable platform design if up hill efficenc matters to you. i have a santa cruz vp-free, and it pedals just as well as a 6 in travel kona stinky. at least make sure the rear shock has stable platform technology.

depend on how much you want to spend, i think you'd be really happy with one of the NORCO a-lines, a Specialized demo 8. or the 06 specialized big hit, its eaither 7&7 of 8&8 this year

definently what ever bike you get make shure it has a 40. the 40 is definently the best preforming and most durable fork out there not to mention its stiffness, tunability, and reliability. As for those bikes, i would higly recoment the glory. its definently the best of those bikes. i would also recomend a sunday or a Demo 8

The 40's aren't the least bit durable, one scartch on the stancions and they're pretty much fucked. Nice to ride though.

No I'm not going from freeride to downhill, I am a freerider and I've been racing downhill for about 10 years.

And I realise it won't be easy to peddle uphill but I've been doing it for so many years that it really doesn't matter anymore. My 7inch Stinky is often set pretty soft and I ride it with a single 40tooth front ring and I can still smoke most cross country riders up the hills. So that's not really an issue.

No specialised, the big hits are gay, Demo 9 pro could be an idea tough?

the cove, they are super dope, and have a really good rep on the shore for sure, Konas are okay, I have gotten jacked by Giants warrantee system so not a fan, the Cove would be sick tho. thats what I would pic

those are solid, especially the cove. id personally go for a banshee though. ever looked at them? the scream is a fucking burly bike thats a blast to ride, and rolls on up to 8" of travel, which is pretty damn solid. they feel good to ride, go demo one.

GIANT GLORY. Hands down.

and if the hands weren't down, go for the cove.

but, since the hands ARE down, go for the glory. you will not regret it. Plus, Giant makes the bikes for most bike companies anyways. So if you buy, say, a specialized, you're basically buying a giant with a specialized decal.

Giant makes 70% of the bikes on the market, i'd expect that they're own, personal product would be more than sufficient.

ya if your riding dh then you want the 40's but if your more into freeride shit then go with the 888's

man the Stinky Deelux is such a sick bike Tim! I was one soo damn bad, but im stuck with my hardrock sport:P

When given the opportunity, it is good to go local, so the Cove is great- esp. if you're Canadian. That's what I would get. I unfortunately ride a Cannondale Chase right now, but it's sick anyway.

^if you like saggy tavel, rattling noises and movement in your pivots yeah.

Does anyone know if the Peeler DH looks heaps like the Playmate?? Coz I rode a playmate on Sunday, it rode quite nice but it looked real gay, hehe. Also looking at an Azonic Gravity. Anyone know anything about them??

Banshee are sick, have ridden the Morphine a bit, good times for sure!

Im almost positive your wrong. Giant and Trek make basically the same bikes, as for Giant and Specialized, not even close. I sell both and Specialized is a better company 10 times over, better service, better bikes, and we have a specialized rep and a giant rep; not a rep that covers both.

Secondly, I completely forgot about the Banshee Scream, one of the people i work with has one and it is amazing. The bike is burly as hell.

Thirdly the kid who said the 40 is the best fork ever..blah blah blah: you don't know what your talking about either. The 40 is an amazing fork, but is known for being finicky and the 888 is almost as good a ride, yes ive been on both, and it can hold up better most of the time. Personally I still like the 40 better, but the 888 is not far behind.

actualy the 224 with the lower pivot point has a very active suspension. Have you ever ridden a 224? its quite a bit different from the other 22x bikes. as for the movement in the pivot i have never expereanced this before in any of the 3 oranges i have owned. And if you have noticed the frame construction around the piviot it is much different as well, extremely sturdy. And yes, most mocouge frames do makes some noise. Definently one of the more race inspired bikes out there. if your looking into hucking or any of that stuff this wouldnt be the best but what ever

Yeh I did ride the 224, didn't like it one bit, but when you're riding that hard it's very personal what you do and don't like, my perfect bike you would probably hate and vice versa, but it's all good.

Think I'm going Demo 9 Pro with 888 RC2's, werd.

dude its all about personal preference. for me weighing like 130 and with a finess riding style and doing mostly racing the 224 works great. alot of these bikes are good but it all comes down to how you ride and what kind of riding you want to do.

i donno about kona. ive never owned one, but my friend has a stab and it always seems to fall apart. pretty much every time we ride, he ends up breaking something. ive ridden santa cruz forever, and i love them. i know u dont have any on ur list, but i would concider it. i had a bullit nad now have a v-10. never broke anyhitng on hte bullit nad i rode pretty hard for about 1.5 years. now i recently got a v-10 cuz i wanted something a little burlier and relized i never go uphill anyway. and i am sooo pleased, soo plush and bombproof, even thouht ive only ridden it like 10 times.

basically, if u want a downhill bike that will never break, ride soooo smooth, and take anyhting...get a v-10(or a bullit if u want a little more freeride ability)

Sorry, i didn't word that corectly. I never said that specialized is owned by Giant or anything. I meant just that Giant ownes all the facories to build the bikes, thus, they build the frames/some of the components for other companies. I guess a lot of companies don't want to set up their own factory so they license themselves out to giant to have thier bikes built. I'm not sure i'm wording this right still, but trust me.

And I think that Speciallized is a good company and all, i just personally don't like them in comparison to Giant. But that's my personal opinion.

I liek the glory im look at that for my next frame. SOme one sugested RMX's my friend has oen and its a nice ride but his bearing keep fuking up or falling out. I have a stinyk and i love it and hear the stab rides even nicer. Cant really go wrong with any of though. I also like aline i rented one at blue mountian and it was very smooth to ride i loved it.

personlyy i think triple 8s see if you can get something with shiver's

no thats a sweet fork i fucked my 888s to many times i had to return 2 pairs good thing they were under warranty

in that case, try to ride as many bikes as possible. whatever feels right, even if it isnt rediculously expensive, is the one to get.
