Hey,

So i know this is gay for me to post this on here and kind of shitty that I'm 19 and trying to get involved with this, but I've been skiing since I was three; pretty competent, took a few years off though for various reasons so trying to get back on my game early on this winter for sure.

Anyways, I like reeeealllllllllly wanna get into free skiing and need some help. I'm from newton mass, which is kind of a bitch, but i'm getting new skiis and boots for xmas and I'm down to go skiing like every winter this season. Wanted to know if anyone was from the area or just in general who'd be down to help me get involved?
 
try posting this in regionals. You'll get more responses from kids that are from your area that can help you
 
I'm from Weston. First things first, don't go to St. Moritz, they don't know their shit, jack the prices, and have a weak inventory (try summit ski shop instead). Where do you ski? Mid-season Wachusetts although father, is much better than Nashoba for instance. I dunno, if you have any specific questions let me know.
 
Heeeeeeey sup, I don't even know if I'm doing this right cuz i've never used NS before but I really appreciate you guys gettin back to me. I'm so stoked in skiing this winter I can't even explain. I just need help because park skiing or freeski is nothing I've ever don't before and i dont know where to begin. Plus, none of my friends ski and I have no one to ski with!

Yeah, if I were to ski in Mass. which is def sometimes my only option if a friend in VT isn't around to let me crash there, the only place I'd go to is Wachusett. Fuck Nashoba! I really like going to VT. We should ski together sometime.

to the thread OP, I think everyone enjoys light heckling over mistakes in posts. its definately good to see your enthusiasm, because that really should be the foundation of NS.

I think the pink name and your desperateness has helped in everyone being nice.

knidgeispowder: you're prob. right. it is kinda funny to point out retarded things that people say on forum posts. guilty as charged! thanks for your kind words because i really do think that with anything it's all about encouraging each other and to have enthusiasm for something you really want to get involved in that makes the sport what it is. Crotched Mountain in southern NH usually has a pretty solid park to learn in, and I can most likely swing a free pass still so hit me up if you want to try it out sometime.

apcaipse, I really hope that I don't get hated on for being enthusiastic about something that I really want to get involved in. I made an account on NS because i was looking around and saw that this was a good place to talk to people who were passionate about freeskiing. I wouldn't describe myself as "desperate" at all. I just am so stoked on getting involved with this. For a number of reasons I haven't been able to do shit for a few years and kinda dropped all my hobbies so I'm excited to finally have the time to get back into the things that get me excited. I've never used this site before and the pink name was just something that happened. I think it's probably because when asked, I checked off that I was a female. You embarassed me a little by saying that so I tried to look to see where I can change it to something more neutral but don't know how. I don't want people to be nice to me because my name is highlighted in pink (which I think is a retarded reason to be nice to someone) or that i come across as being desperate. I jsut erally enjoy the sport, I watch videos about it all day, my parents are dropping a couple grand on ski gear for me and I'm spending $500 on skiis for myself. I dont want you to think I'm just some dumb bitch", I'm really psyched and enthusiastic about getting involved with freeskiing. Thanks for your input... Don't hate!!

 
zzzskizzz: I'd def. love to come up with you next time you go up there! I have a car too and can drive there but it's not so good in the snow and it's always nice to have company. I have no idea what PM is though so filllll me in and we'll def be in touch!
 
I'm not too sure. It's touch because I'm from Newton, MA, and so I wanna go up for ski weekends but I don't have any lodging. I'll figure it out though! Def let you know when I have a better idea of what the fuck i can do. I'm just determined to ski as much as possible this winter.
 
you should go to the airport and fly to mammoth california, and ski everyday.

if not, the northeast is kickass, but you'd still have to move to a mountain unless you drive alot
 
If you pass by Newton on your way to Mt. Snow from New York, you're absolutely fucking retarded. That's like 3+ hours out of the way.

ahahhahha, I love this. Cali's my favorite place in the Nation and that would for sure be my dream. I gotta do school too though G, so I'm not too sure if I can make my way out there. Sometimes I just wanna say fuck it all and have a great time traveling and skiing but society sucks and won't allow me to do that.

The northeast kicks ass, biggie smalls- all I need to say. I'm down to drive any where anytime. And i'd bring people along with me! Thanks for the advice!!
 
^^haha yeah no kidding. well, my advice is just to ski as often as

possible, with people who can show you how to ski well and are patient. Stick

with it because yeah, it is going to hurt when you fall(and you will),

you're going to sprain your thumbs, bruise your thighs and overshoot

jumps. You're going to be discouraged sometimes but if you really love

the sport you will be fine.
