YLE or Chetler

So I'm either getting YLEs or Chetlers and would like to know what would suit me best. I'm 5'8", weigh 142 and ski aggressively. I will be using these for about 50/50 trees and open bowls at Big Sky /Moonlight. I am also considering Rocker 2 122s and Night Trains but I'm backing away from them because it seems like they are softer and won't handle high speeds and variable conditions very well. Chetlers are also what I'm leaning towards because I can get them for $40 cheaper than the YLEs.

Blister has never reviewed YLE unfortunately, I've been hoping they would, but hasn't happened yet.

For your purposes are you sure you need to be so wide? Maybe the rocker 2 in a smaller waist would be good? Bentchetlers would be a good choice. Not sure if the YLE is doing you any favors with its large tails. If you go with YLE, you should consider the fact that the 177 is symmetrical, but the 187 is actually not symmetrical. Even though the tail had the same width as the tip, the waist is 2cm back from center. I think this would be better for you, for your type of skiing a symmetrical ski doesn't benefit you too much, I think a longer tip will be better

Im quite a bit bigger then you at 6'2 180, but I've skied both and prefer the YLE's. I ride them for anything from spring park laps to deep pow and greasy turns. Trust me you won't regret a pair, in your case the 178's might be a good bet.

If I were to get YLE's what should length should I get? I feel like the 177s might be too short get chattery at high speeds and on shitty snow but the 187s would be too long and hard to spin on and make quick turns in the trees with. I just want a length thats responsive and easy to jib around on in pow but can still be stable.

If you want them for Pow get the Bentchetler. If you want them for all mtn shredding and maybe a 6" day and occasional deep pow get the YLE.

Ive had both and the YLE is a great all mtn tool with stashes of pow and the Bent not so much all mtn but is a lot better in the pow.

I know this is old, but just scanning over the OP frustrates me. I don't know where the misconception of Night Trains being soft comes from on this website. They're not an all-mountain ski as a Chetler or YLE, but they're probably stiffer. They're just as stiff as their Bibby counterpart.

Not pointing fingers at anyone in this thread at all, but I just seem to see that misconception all over this website when rolling through threads. "It's more powder specific, therefor it must be soft".

Sorry! Hope you found your ski.

Its simple, they will both ski very well at high speeds. The main thing to think about is how tricky you are. like other have said the yle is symetrical, very tricky ski. I love it personally. The bentchetler is more single directional specific so it will do better skiing forwards. The YLE will tend to catch up with that big tail so its not as aggressive. YLE was designed to be a very fat powder park ski. just go with the flow and dont stress it too much man!
