Dont go to university, backpack across canada to whister then wherever feels good after to ski for the rest of my life. Going with 2 buddies. All experienced campers. Good idea?

good idea if your not a fan of money...these days without a college degree your not gunna be pullin it nearly as much as someone who does

Go out there and work as a ski bum, and take some online courses then finish off your degree in a few classes at a University. Then you're set.
 
well to us money doesn't really mean anything past surviving. Any sort of going to school then working till i die type of life is pretty much the end of living as far as i see things.
 
seriously, you have a long time to live. there is abselutly no way that you can work without a degree until you die. and lets say you screw up your knee really badly and cant ski for a year when your 30. do you really want to take college classes when your 30?!or lets say youdont screw up your knee and stay healthy and skiing until your 55. right around then, you decide that you want to turn your life in a different direction. but you dont have a degree.college...at 55? no way in hell. college is the shit!
 
If you can, and it's what you love, then do it. What's the rush to grow up, you can always go back to school, and taking some time off to figure out what it is you want to do isn't necessarily a bad thing. And don't listen to anyone who tells you you NEED to go to college or that it's a guaranteed job. Sure if you wanna be a doctor or work in an office for the rest of your life crunching numbers, but who wants to do that anyway. Some of the wealthiest, happiest, and most successful people I know either never went to, never finished, or never really needed to go to college. They were instead, creative, and ambitious and that led them to success. On top of that, some of the best paying jobs (in America at least) are in the trades (skilled labor) you get better benefits, and better vacation, and you can actually see what you've done at the end of the day (it's not for everyone) if you go to college you're probably gonna have a good time. Party a lot, lose a lot of your ambition, and get out of shape, and by the time you leave, your dream of backpacking may no longer be a reality, so I say do it while you're young live your own life, and don't be in a rush to grow up. You'll always figure it out. (plus I assume you're canadian so you don't have to worry about getting healthcare some day. so go for it.)
 
another damn thread about this shit? ok - you have more options in life than going to school or ski bumming forever.

what ebout online corses, part time, im full time next semester taking 16 credits and only have classes monday's and tuesdays, dont knowmuch about the canadian education system, but if you guys have community colleges and theres one relitavle close to whiltler why not take 2 or 3 classes a semester so in time you could also have your degree?
 
better idea: suck it up and go to college. then after college do whatever you want and be a ski bum for the rest of your life if you want, but later when you realize you want to do something else you'll have infinite more options and not be a tard.
 
sooo you have no idea wtf youre talking about college jobs are the ones mostly effected by the crashing economy. plus why the fuck, would you want to do something youre not interested in. If skiing is where youre heart is than do it dont go to college cause you have been brain washed by a consumerism society telling you, you need 2 cars 3 kids, and a nicely mortgaged house its in the governments best interest to create a consumer driven society its better for the economy not saying to eat granola every day and date a girl who's never seen a razor but be aware that life style most definitely not make you happier.

on a side note i hitch hiked to BC. this summer from Ottawa only advice is bring a big fuckin knife and be prepared to walk more than you ever have in you're life also do it with 2 not 3 people it is more intimidating for people to pick you up and most just simply wont have room. also don't give up, sometimes you will be sitting there for like 3 hours and just when it seems humanity has given up on you, a ride will come along that's going like 13 hours you're way.

good luck man and if you do decide to hitch hike it will be an unforgettable story that i can definitely promise you.
