Year off from skiing makes Andrew :(

So I've been talking with the doctor, over the summer I was having memory loss and trouble concentrating. Doctor said it's cause I've hit my head so much skiing, I've had 6 concussions, 2 of which were last season. I had an MRI and there's no significant damage to my brain, but he recomends that I take the year off from skiing competitively (so like jumps or anything) to let my brain heal fully. Otherwise I'll get more concussions more easily and the effects will be worse and so on. its a vicious cycle really. So now I'm sad but I can still go out and ski around on the hill, maybee if things are going good I'll get doing stuff by the end of the season but it's too early to say now. I was really hoping to get my 3420s perfected, haha just kidding. But really, it's dissapointing cause I had a really solid pipe run that I was super stoked on almost perfected. Injury is part of the sport though, first time I'm really having to deal with it, it's the most frustrating cause even know all my symptoms are gone, I feel perfectly fine but I can't do hardly anything.

Sorry about the rant, I just wanted to get that out there to the masses of NS haha

think of it this way, one seaons recovering or risk hitting ure head and ending up a veggie...ie no skiing for the rest of ure shitty, hospitalized life.

Head injuries are nothing to fuck around with, you can do serious brain damage. Good of you to take it easy this year, you'll be back out there in no time.

huge bummer dude, i really am sorry. a cool way to keep being involved i think would to be film. not the same as skiing, but it would keep you up on the slopes and hanging with friends

1. Pick up a helmet

2. Pick up a camera

Itll give you something to do so you dont end up doing groomers all season..

he was going to but he kept getting concussions and forgetting to buy one!!! haha

just kidding man that sucks, my best friends dad blew out his knew last year and missed last season, and i can say there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a fellow skiier chillin in the lodge because of a stupid injury.

hope your brain heals quick man

dude that sucks man

i'm always wearin that dome cause it's just steezy and safety is alllways in style

but man, when you get back we know you be shreddin twice as hard man heal quick!

dude im sorry that sucks. but take it easy....is your brain!!!! you should see if you can get your doctor to prescribe you Nintendo DS with Brain Age! hehe. hope you get better soon dude!

I'm out for the season too, but i'm in Rwanda. So atleast i'm not just sitting on the couch pining away. Sorry to hear it bro. Grab a NoBoard and go pow surfing on some mellow slopes. I'm tempted with all these huge, terraced hills that would be pillow drop central if they got some snow. Oh well.

Thanks for the support guys. And ya I was wearing a helmet for every concussion I got. Ya I plan on filming this winter, I'll probably be doing alot of that cause up until last season me and my friends always made movies and stuff, last year I didn't really have time I was on the road too much without a camera so this will give me a chance to get doing that again. I've picked up the guitar too, decided I'm gonna be a rockstar haha

drew that sucks

but you can make the best of it and move somewhere pimp and shred pow all winter.

Thats pretty much what I'm doing too this winter cause my shoulder is so fucked.

thats a bummer man, i have quite a few concussions myself(with and without a helmet) and when i went to the doctor last, he told me i should wear a helmet during everyday life, all the time. hope the best for you man! your noggin is very sacred.

I think you're lying. You're probably just saying that so the Calgary kids will be like "oh fuck yes, i might actually win a contest for once!"Then you'll show up at a contest "hey fuckers!"

bummer man. i feel for you. i injured my knee a few years back and couldnt ski for like a year and a few months. i was so bummed. it hurt...a lot. and i had nightmares for a while after . no joke, it was a traumatic year for me.
