Y hate foam Cores?

The biggest problem with foam cores is that the camber starts to flatten from the day you start skiing them...a wood core will be stiffer and holds its shape better than foam. There is no real noticable difference in a foam ski or a wood ski until a few hard years down the road, when the foam will give you a flat ride and the wood still feels nice and new.
 
They're soft and break down quickly. I have been the owner of two pairs of pocket rockets(I obviously don't learn quickly) and both of them were noticably softer after about 30-40 days of skiing on them. I got sick of that and have since moved on to wood core.
 
My sister like crushed the core of her k2 juvies (which are foam core cause they're juniors. Almost all junior skis have a foam-type core). So thats something for me. And i hear they lose their pop quite quickly.
 
both scratch fs and sprayer are wood, fs have a more complex and durable core combined of multiple things to make them more poppy than straight wood as well as more durable
 
1. arguments about a twin's camber's life is a joke. We're jumping with our skis what do you expect... So foam dies eventually so does wood fuck!!!

2. Everybody thinks that foam is cheaper to make them wood. And probably cause there are a lot of jr's ski that are cap and foam. But composite core and wood inlays are really not that different in price... With you cores and sandich construction you use more glue, resine and material... Non argument.

3. Some twins are not really made to last cause they are jr skis and soft park skis... If you go bigger then what they are meant for, you'll break stuff...

4. Salomon uses composite core in some, not all of their twin's. (lab and promodels are wood).

5. Salomon uses composite because it makes the skis super light for tricks. And also super snappy for pipes and park.

6. You can't dis the Pocket Rocket aka 1080 gun. It's the orriginal backcountry jib twin. (why do jibber always dump on Salomon for being orriginal.? Burton get respect, Salomon get dissed.)

7.Why is the lifeline of your composite skis so important, you're already shopping for your ski for next year??? posers!!!!
 
wow i ski every day and i ski my skis very rough. and i own a pair of Salomon thrusters.... i have no problems.

all skis will loose ther camber/pop

who skis there skis for a couple of years? please anyone that is into this sport will need new skis every year if you ski hard.

all skis can delam and its gonna happen from jumping.

on any ski the edges will break from rails.

all people have an openin!!!

its not the skis its your skiing!!!
 
Yea i dont see how people think that they are going to ski the same pair of twins for more than a season. After 2 months or so my skis are thrashed.
 
^except for the fact that pocket rockets suck. and why sacrifice durability for a lighter ski? I like skiis on the heavy-ish side cause it feels smoother.

3. my arvs are PLENTY soft, they have a wood core.

4. we already know all about the salomon cores, we're saying that the ones with foam cores suck.

5. my ARVs are PLENTY light, and snappy.

6. i can dis whatever i want.

7. lifeline is important to me, i've had my mad trix for 4-5 years now (and still goin strong, wood core). i don't have enough money to blow money on a new pair of skis after i've skied on one pair 30-40 times.

BONUS. salomon is going to wood cores for many of their skis next year for a reason, THEY'RE BETTER.
 
i have the foils and im 6 foot 1 180lbs and ive skied them 30 days on icy east coast parks and there is no noticable difference in the flex, and I've never ever felt a wood ski anywhere near as light...i seriously love these skis
 
im 225lb and i have foils and they work great for me good pop when i need it and nice stiffness when i need that too
 
I don't think salomon has any wood core skis for next season, perhaps with the exception of the Dumont pro model. I see more broken Armada's/Lines/K2 wood skis that are 'super durable' than I do Salomon's. How is that?
 
almost the same size as me mate, and my foils do me proud...fuck y'all foam core bashing pricks, clearly there isn't that bigger difference between wood and foam
 
sounds like this guy needs to jerk it to his arv's. I dont see how foam dies faster? have u ever rode a foam cored ski? who cares about camber i rode volkl dogans and after a month your could lay the skis down and the entire ski would touch and they performed just the same(wood core). Every ski looses pop. I rode my spaceframe1080s for 2 years hitting tables on them every day adn they still had a shit ton of pop in them. I like the foam core. i think salomon should keep it in some skis.
 
i used my arvs and mad trix as examples for wood core skis because i've skied them. and yes, i have skied foam core skis before (specifically pocket rockets). i dunno about your dogens, but my mad trix are keeping their camber after 4 years of using them everywhere. i don't like the foam core. i don't give a shit what salomon does with their skis, i can't afford new ones anyways, but like i said they aren't changing cores for no reason.

I really couldn't care less about foam/wood. I'd never buy a salomon ski just because they have that quick nimble feel. I prefer a ski that's stiffer and feels more solid and slow.
 
u guys probably havent even ride salomon ski and are bitching about it, atomic is also made of foam core and that doesnt make them a bad ski. who would ever keep a ski 4 years after hard riding(park,rail), no ski could handle that. com on u guys just need to stop bitching on the net and go skiing
 
yeah that composite salomon 1080 foil spanks pretty much every ski of it's category this year.

the foam wood debate is a non issue these days.
 
my friend broke a pair of foam cores(atomic tweaks)haha funny shit cause the run before they actually cracked but he didnt know it then the run after he came down on a butter box and they came apart lol some funny shit.
 
^damn straight, who gives a fuck, the core could be made out of fairy floss for all I care, all that matters is that the foil dominates and skis fuckin well
 
i have broken every pair of pocket rockets i have owned (6), good ski, but they just dont last, I have also seen other skiers snap em in half several times, the cap construction (Top sheet) on the pocket rocket supports all of the ski and skier, the foam is just an injected filler, :( cost effective i guess, and as for "lab" models or pro models being wood, nope.

If you remember the pro model ak rocket with pilot 916s, that was the only salomon "freeski" that was wood, the rest are foam. They do make race skis that are wood however.
 
of course, salomon is all about efficiency, they make their ski really fast and cost effective, they design their skis to the market of people who ski less than 30 days a year, so if you ski more than that or really hard than chances are you will delam your skis or worse. But they will have no problem replacing broken ones, ive done it 6 times!
 
other than these pocket rockets ive never herd of such problems from salomon. The foils i think are the best ski salomon has ever produced. Hope they keep it coming for next season.

and on an unrelated note 1260 has a wood core yet it is lighter snappier and more durable than the 1080

can we please clear this up. Salomon is not moving to a wood core for any of the 1080's next year. In fact, they didn't really change any of their skis, except for the topsheet. Everythin is either power foam or isocell complex.

Stop spreading false information and say that Salomon is moving to wood because they arent.
 
because after riding hard for a season the ski turns into a noodle but I still love Salomon skis I just have too buy new ones every year
