yeah, was watchin the news and reading the paper, new virus out today that attacks xp computers nicely, not sure how, but you can download a patch at norton's website, or if you run on norton i think you can get it with a live update...

yeah,i already got the virus. I had to call dell and they fixed it up. The virus blows because once u turn on your computer...5 min later,it turns off. Of course..all computer viruses blow in some way

yeah, sounds like the blaster virus that is going around. It is supposed to be not that destructive, but a pain in the ass. The funny thing it that there is a line in the code complaining about Bill Gates making too much money and not producing quality.

The bug also targets the Microsoft Page that offers the update, and I read an initial report saying that the fix site was targeted on the 16th (but I have subsequently heard that its targeted on the 15th). So best bet is update now (today).

i got it on my home comp - its super easy to fix. just right click my computer - manage, expand services and applications, double click services, then double click on Remote Procedure Call (RPC). Click on recovery tab in the new window and change the 3 drop down menus from restart to take no action and then the viru can not shut down your computer and you can run a virus scan easily.

Yea the worm is really easy to fix. Its just there to annoy people. You can download a thing that prevents you from getting it at microsofts website.

 
i just got rid of teh blaster worm virus thing this morning...every time i logged on i could only be on for like 5 min, then this thing would come up saying my computer would restart in a min and it did...but im glad its all over now

the blaster virus while in its current form may not appear to be that destructive to your own computer besides the shutting down. however it is scheduled to perform a denial of service attack on microsoft update this means it will use all the bandwidth it can to bring microsofts server to its knees (which it will easily do). so this means your internet may start running extrmely slow. also this virus was not coded extremely well except for the fact it does not need you to send it to anyone. it will infect computers on its own. so not opening email attachments wont stop you from getting it.

another problem is someone else out there could very easily manipulate the code to be VERY destructive to your computer. so in other words get the patch now before microsofts server goes down in flames (hahahaha) so it wont come along later in a different form and fuck you real good.

yes it can effect and NT based Os including NT 3.0 and 4.0, win 2000, and win xp both home and pro. it will have different effects depending on the OS you have

^ Yes... I think it effects NT 4.0, 2000, Server 2000, and XP 32, and 64 Bit.

I had that shit before it was even in the news, so I had no idea what to do. I installed all the updates for XP, got new antivurs DATs, and reinstalled zone alarm. No problems now.

Can someone answer me this why the fuck are computer nerds out there making virus's? I would understand a virus that copys all your bank info and sends it to them but I mean these virus's are just there to piss you off and annoy you. they dont gain anything from it whatsoever. some people are just straight up fags

people that make these kind of viruses are either smart and just assholes or are stupid little kids that like to write viruses cause they think its cool. and usually the viruses they write are destructive. We call these fags script kiddies

I got some type of virus on my XP machine. And all the other computer's on my network were okay (all 98) except the Xp machine couldnt find the System folder.
