I am selling my Canon XL2 video camera. It was purchased in the late fall of 2007, and used for one video during the winter. It was not used this past summer or fall. It is in excellent shape. The XL2 is a perfect piece of video equipment for the advanced amateur, student or professional photographer. It has xlr mic inputs, detachable lens, all manual controls, etc. It features a 16 by 9 size sensor, so it is easy to shoot in the standard widescreen ratio. Frame rates from 24p to 60i. The flexibility is remarkable with this camera. It can be used for broadcast television, film like movies, etc. The XL2 has been regarded as the top independent filmmaker's camera for years. It comes just as I purchased it from Calumet Photographic a year ago. Included: body, stock lens, microphone, lens hood, strap, all cords/cables, remote control, manual, original box, one battery.
All the little HDV cams are fine and well, but in less you are ready to drop a ton of money on a HVX or equivalent, an XL2 will produce a much better product.
 
XL2s are a little big for skiing, when you could get a similar picture from a vx2100.
 
i skied with it all winter. there wasnt i day I was skiing without this winter. I typically had the xl2 and my d200 and several lens with me. it really isnt that bad if you have the right backpack.

It may not be very practical for skiing, but the XL2 is a great camera. A friend of mine has one, and we used it on a bunch of projects. It's muuch better than a VX2100. Native 16:9 and interchangeable lenses set it aside from other DV cams. Short of buying a broadcast cam or something, this is pretty much the best standard def camera. Obviously you can argue that you like the colors better on the dvx or something, but as far as actual facts and comparable features, the XL2 is the best prosumer standard def camera.
