XL jacket with L pants?

Will it work, or look funny? The xl jacket im gonna get is kinda like a shell and its not to puffy, slimming if anything and the pants i have are prerty baggy. I've herd not to put xl tops with bottoms or bottoms with tops. so im not sure. whats the "rule" guys haha

I go XXL pants and L coat, but I think you'll be fine with XL coat and L pants, the pants will be baggy anyway and the coat will just be a bit longer.
