it was pretty cool to see some of the footage from the superpipe in last year's x-games. pipe skiing has progressed exponentially from last year. guy's are getting 3-4 times more air than last year and doing more spins and inverts. too bad the pipe at baker is a muddy mess right now cause of the lack of snow.

 
I'm disappointed that Reedy didn't get further... he went for the switch tricks and stuck them, basically sacrificing amplitude for style and technicality, and I guess the judges didn't go for it.

But I'm glad Candide won, he deserved it... and yeah, maybe Tanner and Jon should have been switched. I was still unhappy with the lack of new or innovative tricks.

i was really impressed when they put cr and shaun whites run in a split screen cuz cr went quite a bit bigger on his hits, and from what i saw there the skiers were going bigger than most of the boarders, i think pipe skiing has come a long way since last year. philou busted his hip in practice but still tried to qualify but couldnt get his run dialed and didnt make the finals

So ya'll know, here's the scoop on those new Salomons... word in the biz is that they will never be a full-production ski exactly as they are now. They're wood core (holy shit! Salomon made a wood core ski??) and they have to mill the core in the 'Spaceframe' shape. I dunno why they don't just ditch that for this particular ski, you'd think milling out the tip and tail would make it pretty fragile. On top of that, it's pretty damn expensive to mill the core like that for every ski. So the plan is that they'll give those skis to their pros and it'll look just like the 1080 and everyone will go 'Hey, those are the X-games skis' and buy them. They've got mega-sidecut (114-75-109 was the figure I saw) and are pretty stiff for those mega-boost airs. You saw how little they flexed when CR bailed, and he bailed hard.

Anyway, that's about it.

yah, whoever said they put cr's and shaun white's hits on a split screen: as my snowboarding friend pointed out, shaun was inverted.

ha, yah i noticed tanner's bib number, also. fucking fate....

wood cores are the way to go. the extra weight is worth it.

lizzie: are you and your friend nutz? did you watch candides run? his first 4 airs were bigger than ANY of shawn whites and 3 out of the 4 were inverts.....HAHAHAHAHA - plus, it is harder to do a 20 foot straight air than a 15 foot invert, no doubt, CR was fuckin killin it

 
yah, i watched it. hell, i was there. i guess the point i'm trying to make is that once again skiing gets screwed over by espn.

An amazing comp... They went so huge, bigger than any boarders. I was kinda disappointed in the coverage once again though, maybe there will be more next year after this great showing
