my sexbox is starting to go insane. earlier today i was playing some cod4 and as i was shooting the xbox froze and the screen showed a red checker pattern on top of my mp5 pwning some noobs. i turned the xbox off, went and did other shit for a few hrs, then got in the mood for some more cod4, went back to play, and my first game towards the end i got the same red checker pattern and it froze. so i turned it off, back on, before the level had loaded guess what, froze, red checker. the red checker appeared continually closer until right when i turned my xbox on, it froze, before the xbox 360 screen came up. everything sounds fine, looks fine, no rrod, it's just this damn freezing and red checkeranyone have experience with this? and don't tell me how much xboxes break, i know, i'm just looking for help

A quick google search seems to indicate that the grid pattern is a harddrive issue or an impending hardware failure.

One suggestion was to turn off the xbox, take out the HD, turn the xbox back on, put the HD back in.

yeah it's well ventilatedbut it's not overheating, this happens right off the bat
from what i could find searching around everyone who experienced the checkerboard got RROD about 2 weeks lateri guess i'll be breaking out a box and some packing tape to send this fucker back to microsoft

....red rings of death

bite the bullet and send it back...if you don't have a warrenty...buy the expensive one wait a week and then send it in i'tll be cheaper than buying new shit

yea man, sorry to say it, but that happened to my xbox a bit a few weeks ago, and that xbox is now on its way to texas to meet some nice microsoft people

mine gets gray lines that are bowed out towards the edges, like a super close up of an iron fence shot with a fisheye. when i restart it its fine though

did you get RROD?if my box is fucked i actually want red ring so i can get a free replacement, otherwise it's not under warranty anymore

if you do get RROD you could always towl trick it, wored for me when i got it, and i think the xbox is registered under my name so you may have to send it back to me alex and then i would send it to microsoft

Well your main mistake is the fact that you got an Xbox. I have seen many many threads on NS regarding problems with Xbox, but i dont think i have seen one about a PS3 problem.

well i got the RRODgonna send it back to xbox. pretty sure the console isn't under warranty anymore but won't they repair a RROD for free?
