so i just got the red flashing ring and now my x box just turns on and goes to black screen is this the fated red rings of death?
 
what does the ring look like? the actual RROD is only three of the four quadrants of

the circle. and depending on the light pattern you can tell what happend.

Use google and look up RROD and you can find how to figure out what went wrong.
 
if you have 3 of the 4 red lights lit up it's the ring of death. call microsoft. they'll send you a prepaid box ship it out and you'll get a brand new one in about 2 or 3 weeks. it happened to me a few months ago.
 
i didnt look closely. just saw red flashing. and its green now but the screen stays black.
 
i would check if all your cords are plugged in. red flashing means the power supply isn't plugged in. 3 solid red lights is the ring of death.
 
Did you try to put an MP3 cd in by any chance? A friend of mine did that and it permafucked his xbox
 
wrap it in 2 towls for 1 hour and leave it on with the harddrive and video cord unpluged if it is the RROD. thats what i did and it fixed it
 
if it is the red ring of death, sometimes waiting it out can fix it. Mine got it just a few weeks ago actually, and i was too busy to bother with it all week, and when i went to try and see what happened when i turned it on, it worked again, and i haven't had any problems since
 
So spend another 400-500 dollars instead of getting a new free xbox? good advice, idiot.
 
thats only a temporary fix for when you're waiting for you're box tho. i did that and it lasted me for about a week of casual gaming. then it died again. and i did it again and it lasted less. idk maybe you got lucky, but everyone i've heard from it was only temporary too
 
just send it back to the Xbox company. Yeah you have the 3 rings of death, 3 of my friends had that and sent it back to Xbox and within like 3 weeks they had their Xbox back fixed
 
that sort of happened to me, i was playing cod 4 split screen with 4 people and we'd been playing for a while and the xbox just shut off while it was loading a map and i got the flashing red ring. i pressed the power button, waited 10 seconds and pressed it again and it works fine now, i think it just crashed, w/e, xbox replaces them because they break like crazy
 
im just gonna go buy a new 360 and return my old one in the new box. and say i cant afford it right now.
 
Just get a new video chord, I'm going to guess thats your problem, its semi common. Just replug the video cable back in and see if its works. If that doesn't I'd try another cord first
 
My friend got GTA4 and broke it walking out of the mall so he went in bought another and put the broken one in the new case then returned it. Its kinda dirty though...
