Xbox 360 + my external harddrive

to be able to play movies from my 320gig harddrive on my xbox, apparently i need to format it or something. (i googled, dont really understand what to do... ya noob i know cool) so how do i get it formatted correctly to work with my xbox- from my mac?

A magnet will surely format the whole drive, swipe it 5-6 times over the opened case.

I dunno man what kind of HD do you have? I have a western digital that I use with my mac and it's just plug-and-play with my 360 I never had to format or anything

I believe you want to format it to FAT32 instead of NTFS. Hopefully that works.

this is so weird i have a western digital passport and ive formatted it in EVERYTHING and nothing appears on my xbox. WTF ftk im trying to get the harddrive to appear on my xbox so that i can watch movies off it

What format are the videos in? Ive got a western digital that i use with my mac and when i plug it in my xbox only some of the videos play. They're all .mpg or .avi but some .avi's randomly dont work.
