Xavier Bertoni beat T-Hall and Dumont in Superpipe. He won with a 93.60 i think and had 2 flawless runs. Was not expecting him to win at all. He also came form the same town as Candide Thovex who also won gold in super pipe. HUGE PROPS TO BERTONI

yah im glad to see an underdog take it this year, I was getting tired of the " dumont and tanner hall showdown" sick for xavier, glad to see a relatively new face in the spotlight

for all you people hating on tanner for over reacting your retarded. he was stoked for bertoni. he killed it! and for all you kno they are freinds. i thought it was a lot cooler than dumont standing in his corner not saying anything. fuck if i were bertoni i would be like damn tanner hall is saying nice job to me... but to the thread. sick job bertoni. killed it! sick event tonight

sorry but I cant stand not pointing this out,

xav lives in france and tanner in usa, tanner dosnt know a word of french exept the key ones needed to make out with girls in montreal at if3 and Xavier dosnt know much english.

everybody throwing that double looks like Pete Olenick's whiskey flip a couple years ago... At least mike douglas gave props where props is due. And big ups to Xavier!!

simon didnt seem able to throw anything spectacular tonight.. im a huge fan of him but i still think that both his 90 and his 91 were not worth their ratings

bertoni deffinatly threw down! he deserved the win 100%

Simon should have brought his game.. idk what happened to him tonight but he wasnt his normal self thats forsure

Tanner had one of the highest hit of the night with one of the steeziest alleyoop flatspin 5's I have ever seen. Tanner had a double. Tanner Grabbed a 12. Tanner had 3 shifty's with his tricks.

Tanner won in my book.

Now, I am not discrediting Xavier, he threw down for sure, but his best trick was tanner's 2nd best trick, and he didn't even grab it.

i was astonished that tanner's 3rd run got him as close to xavier as it did. While Tanner's run was still amazing, I think xavier had a touch of something else that made his considerably better, and I think it really comes down to his ease of spinning it both ways, and linking it in a way where you are left stunned. How do I mean? Well, a 5 first hit is nothing new, but then he goes into a left 9, then a right 9. Still, nothing too fancy dancy considering that was the name of the game tonight, but still legit as hell with crisp style. Then a money money alley oop 3, then to a switch 10 followed by the left 10. That last part in particular just blew all the other runs out of the water (even though that was his 3rd run, and his second scored higher). That was prowess.

I also felt that a super hucked double flip aint shit if it looks like a super hucked double flip.

I woulda given it to Dumont actually.

Wow... he had 5 hits, when everyone else was getting 6 or 7. Do you know what that means? He was going BIGGER than anyone else. everything he did was flawless. Most people squeezed a 12 into their run... Dumont sent his 15 feet out and about 40 feet down the pipe.

Tanner's run was better as far the the technicality, but it didn't flow as well as Simon's in my opinion. both were epic though... taking pipe skiing to new levels.

I woulda put the results at Dumont, Tanner, Xavier.

Xavier also hit perfect tranny on EVERY SINGLE hit. Tanner couldn't seem to dial that in on any of his runs. Mad respect to both tanner and dumont, but Xavier deserved that W and its nice to see a fresh face on the top spot.

But seriously, Colby threw down the hardest with that polish doughnut. Sickest trick of the night hands down

No way dude....to me it looked like Tanner sent it even higher than Simon at the top, with much harder tricks. Dub flip to alley oop flat five shifty to 1260? That is probably the most insane combination that I have ever seen, oh yeah with his 2nd alley oop hit like 20ft out. Yeah, Bertoni had an insane run, but he wasn't half as smooth as Tanner. Simon needs to change his run, end of story.

i do think tanner's run was better...but it could be put either way...xavier def had some style and amplitude, along with his sw 10 was it? also like put up there^ nice to see a new guy win.

I was a little suprised to see Tanner's last run not topping Bertoni's. Don't get me wrong, Bertoni had some great runs and a great overall night, I just personally believe Tanner's last run beat Bertoni. A double and a 12 in one run is tough to beat, especially considering the fact that Bertoni didn't start his run out with bangers. I was very impressed with Bertoni's ability to match the trannies and keep enough speed through the pipe to put down so big tricks later in his run though. Simon seemed a little off, but hes really gotta step it up if he wants to stay up with everyone. Had Dorey landed a clean run, or even Kevin Rolland, Simon would have been in trouble I believe.

Personally I'm a huge tanner fan and thought his run was absolutely amazing, but Xavier put down the best run of the night from run 1, and never let go of it. Tanner didn't hit his transitions like he usually does, and wasn't as smooth as he usually is. There should be no debate over who won this comp tonight since Xavier just threw down soo hard and deserved the W

If u watch the runs hit to hit between Tanner and Xavier, Tanner should have won. Not too many people can do doubles and Tanner's amplitude on the upper half of the pipe should have clenched a win. I feel like the judges wanted to pass the torch to someone else-even though Tanners run was pretty much perfect. don't get me wrong, the two runs were very close and Xavier was definitely on point for sure.

I cant believe how simon just cannot seem to get even 6 hits in. Sure, he's going big, butcant he just angle it a little better?... Only real dif. from last year to this year is he threw in a right 9. Granted, his 12 was sick - but.. it also carried him a mile down the tube. easy for me to say, seeing as i'm not at that level, or even any good in the pipe.. but I still dont get it. deserving of 3rd indeed.

Tanner was definitely going for it. His last 2 runs were pretty fuckin good, and I think his 2nd run deserved at least an 88 or 89.. kinda stunned me to see an 85.2 or whatever on that.. he's got his dub flip down pat, and definitely can control himself in the pipe, as he launches 7 hits pretty techy. If he launched a 10, or even a 9 on that last hit... he would have definitely taken it. Close none the less.

zavi-yay... that was fucking ridiculous. those last two hits were on fiyah. Sure, not the most innovative, and possibly not even the biggest, but SURELY the most solid of the evening. Did it deserve first? well.. it was close, but apparently he did.

all three better look out though.. justin dorey is just starting to kill it..

Tanner won for me, he got everything a perfect run needs, a switch hit, 12(with grab), double, shiftys, both ways, everything..

ungrabbed double can't be judged better than supersmooth 10s, so xavier def deserv it!

if tanner can pull his 10 at the last hit, he would prolly win, but he didn't so xavier def. had the best run! no doubt!

I know they are tough as hell and all, but does anyone else think that dubs look awful in the pipe? I just think they dont look as good as some of the other shit that is thrown on the first hit. It was endearing when Olenick threw it, but it was two years ago and never done before and I dont think anyone throws them as well as he did anyway. Ill probably get hated on but whatever.

That being said, Tanner won it in my book, Xavier definitely threw down and deserved silver, maybe even gold, but Tanner's runs were just too sick. I was cheering for Dumont, always do because of the Maine roots, but he just didnt show up tonight and he knew it, I think that's why he was sulking a bit. Not to be a poor sport but it's just the competitive streak in him. You can hate on him all you want but that's where I would have been, not tackling the winner and making a fool of myself.

Gah.. more fucking hate on the reactions of these two.. just stop it people.. i'm not even a huge fan of these guys, but tanner's and simon's reactions were pretty damn expected.

Simon - has a friend who's in pretty bad condition at the moment... AND had finished his run about 2 runs prior (so, was probably off to the side chatting with people in the crowd, and potentially riley poor's family..) so its expected that he be in a somber mood - even if he won he'd be in a pretty somber mood.

TANNER - what else do you expect from a guy who's caps lock is as broken as his ankles were... and did anyone else see the other 4 people who dived in on that action?

he wasnt in a somber mood when he was training pipe at pc last week i can tell you that, and that was just after the riley incident

Yea xavier. didnt watch tanners fina; run but wathced his fist 2 and they swer prwetty sick. especially th last. Tanne3rs dub was sick. sory im a biut drunk at,m haha. Yea tanner

The only reason the Xavier won (not discrediting, he did great) was because of his spins. He had more spins then T-hall. T-hall went bigger, with more steeze and shifties. T-hall also landed super low on his dub even tho it was grabbed.

Personally I'm glad Xavier won, gives the newer kids hope at winning instead of just getting 3rd behind dumont and T-hall.

Dumont had great runs, but he was so super tense on his skis I thought he was going to eat shit at every hit.

I'm really looking forward to the slopestyle tho. That will be good.

Bertoni deserves the win... And easy.

5, unnat 9, 9, flat 3, sw 7 and unnat 12, and higher than Hall.

Nothing else to add.

bertoni just came out of nowhere. ive never heard of him before until last night, and his style is almost just like candide's, its awesome. i thought simons run was good enough to deserve 2nd though. i didnt really like tanner's run this year too much

Bertoni's runs was unbelievable.. All the calls of spin to win are completely unfair. Tanners 12 was the most hucked of all to me.. Anyway, Xavier's runs were each different at the bottom and the way he kept his speed destroyed all the others for me.. Perfect run for me, and definitely deserved the win. So easy to see next year will be even better though! Rolland, Dumont, Dorey can all easily improve their runs.
Duncan Adams was still my favourite to watch though. So smooth.

yea same thats what i noticed, Xavier also landed everyone pretty perfect, didn't slip up much at all. If he i did i probably missed

either you like back to back 10s both ways or you like the dub, judges obviously liked the 10s better. i liked the double better but thats just me.

I just re-watched the runs and I actually do think Javier deserved it. His run was just more intense and he kept that intensity the whole run. I didnt really feel like Dumont or Hall were even that into it this year, they seemed to be trying to let someone else take it or something. The intensity wasnt there. And as I said before, I dont think the dubs look that good in the pipe.

xavier definitely deserved the win. 3 very different runs all perfectly stomped. tanner and simon both underperformed, dorey and rolland could both have knocked them off the podium had they landed their runs perfectly. duncan's run was dope too, very underscored a la hatveit last year.

you dont live in midwest. they way i look at it. and the way it is here is pretty much a skier is your freind no matter how good no matter how bad pretty much. there is almost no hate here. thats the way i see most pros...

the frenchman did 3-4 tailgrabs per run. thats not variation. this was the worst halfpipe competition since the conception of the halfpipe.

yeah dude for sure, althoughi must admist, it woudl have been super sick for dorey to win... them flatspins are nuts

i think so too, knee grab cannonball doubles, hucked ass 1260's people used to give tuffelmire shit for 6 years ago, smaller hits than on last years baby pipe. whatever tho

what trick did colby do after he crashed it was something with a doughnut...i dont know what it was but it was sick, i wanna learn how to do that

no way dude, simon had the right to be pissed and sad he didnt win.

i think tanner was so full of shit, he was trying to be a good sport to make himself look better. he was stealing the spotlight, he was so corny and all. it actaully made me mad seeing him do that. im sure simon congratulated him after, and he didnt have to steal the spot light, and make corny comments

so i dont think im retarded... what he did is the exact reason why i hate tanner as a person, I think hes an amazing skier, the best, but from seeing movies of him and seeing this, i think he must be an asshole
