umm...The X-Wave is a SERIES of Salomon boots, and is not at all their race boots. The X-Wave boots are their all mountain performance boots. There is the X-Wave 8, 9, and 10 (9 is out of this years line though). And the 1080 boot is identicle to X-Wave 8 except for the 1080 has a shock absorbing boot board, and a slightly softer flex. So yes the X-Wave boots would be fine for park/freeskiing in general, but you might as well just get the 1080 boot.
